I'd like to take a look at their ships and maybe crew, would Profession (sailor) qualify for that?

Yes, profession sailor would certainly qualify. You may go ahead and roll, if you wish. Or take 10.

Haha. Dondo is family friendly. Trying to get something unique and halfling-like. It's a work in progress.

Zehur has run squarely into a Grease spell.

Quote:
A grease spell covers a solid surface with a layer of slippery grease. Any creature in the area when the spell is cast must make a successful Reflex save or fall. A creature can walk within or through the area of grease at half normal speed with a DC 10 Acrobatics check. Failure means it can't move that round (and must then make a Reflex save or fall), while failure by 5 or more means it falls (see the Acrobatics skill for details). Creatures that do not move on their turn do not need to make this check and are not considered flat-footed.

I think that, because he did not know it was there, he was not trying to move at half speed and so would stop when he reached the Grease. The reflex save is to avoid falling.

Does this make sense? Does it seem fair?

This fight is crazy. Talk about fog of war. Nobody knows what is going on. I bet this feeling is closer to reality then the all-knowing map we usually work from.

I wonder if anything would change if the combatants only had a small visual range when they are in hand-to-hand combat. Perception checks each round might provide them with other clues, but until they had time to look around, they would not be able to see the whole battle.

Probably too much work for the GM to be worth it though.

I am doing something like that. I have an updated master map with everyone's positions on it. Also, I figure you can refer to the older maps for an idea of where things are.

Quote:
If Darven is still blind I didn't think he could take an AoO.

All opponents are considered to have total concealment (50% miss chance) against the blinded character

You can't execute an attack of opportunity against an opponent with total concealment, even if you know what square or squares the opponent occupies.

I think that this is a good point, but it puts two different rules together in a way that perhaps was not as intended.

I will do a message board search for any official answer, but for the purposes of this combat... I think that since Darven is standing right there and the dumbass caster is casting a spell with verbal components, and Darven rolled really well on his Perception check I would go ahead and allow the AoO (with the concealment miss chance thrown in.)

EDIT:
Wow, there is a lively debate on this on the boards. Lets just carry on.
