OOC Thread

IC Thread

Rules:

1. Have fun!
2. Sign up for a Paizo account, and a PFS#. If you don't have one, I or some of the other players can assist you.
3. I will roll initiative. If it is a surprise situation, I will most likely also roll perception checks.
4. Combat will be run in 'chunks'. For example:
Bob: Init:20 AC:16 HP:3/10
Mark: Init:18 AC:15 HP:10/10
NPC 1: Init:17 AC:15 HP: [-13]
Ringo: Init:15 AC:10 HP: 2/8
NPC 2: Init:2 AC:11 HP: [-2]
Paul: Init:1 AC:15 HP: 8/8

Bob and Mark will post in any order, I'll do NPC 1's turn Ringo will post, then NPC 2's turn will be posted. At any time after NPC 2's turn, Paul, Bob, and Mark may post.
5. Try to thumb all of the posts that you have read (I personally am awful at this, but this will give me an at-a-glance way of telling if anyone is behind).
5. If anyone would like help making a PC, or would like to use a pre-gen, I am open to either. Others may of course help, also.
6. Make sure I know your PFS #, it makes reporting much easier

These items may be changed at my whim, though I'm usually pretty fair, so if it is game breaking/changing, I'll default to the PCs favor... usually.

I am new at this, so am open to advice, constructive criticism, praise, etc.

Here are some PFS numbers, if you use one, please let me know.

Just for future reference - what kind of roll would it have taken for Pueck to have been successful talking down the dogs? I'm trying to decide if I like the character basis...

I saw that chart in the PRD.

Is there a chart for timing or the bonus you gave or was that just GM perogative? (I'm learning here... The question to me is whether or not Pueck is built right, or if I'm trying to get her to do something that will rarely see the light of day, like talk down attacks by Wolves and dogs and mountain lions, etc.)

There is no chart for timing that I'm aware of. It seems very situational, like holding out food for a hungry dog, that seems to negate -most- of a 'quick' diplomacy/handle animal roll in my opinion.

You could get a 'masterwork tool kit' for handle animal that could very well be a 'container for feeding critters'... I saw someone else have one, maybe Ajax?

They have pretty much said that every skill has a potential for a Masterwork Tool that would benefit it.

Note to self: Even if it is just one enemy, early on in an adventure, still roll initiative.

At level 3, it becomes +12 on the mounted charge. Let's not speak of damage numbers.

Using a scroll

Activation: To activate a scroll, a spellcaster must read the spell written on it. This involves several steps and conditions.

Decipher the Writing: The writing on a scroll must be deciphered before a character can use it or know exactly what spell it contains. This requires a read magic spell or a successful Spellcraft check (DC 20 + spell level). Deciphering a scroll is a full-round action.

Deciphering a scroll to determine its contents does not activate its magic unless it is a specially prepared cursed scroll. A character can decipher the writing on a scroll in advance so that she can proceed directly to the next step when the time comes to use the scroll.

Activate the Spell: Activating a scroll requires reading the spell from the scroll. The character must be able to see and read the writing on the scroll. Activating a scroll spell requires no material components or focus. (The creator of the scroll provided these when scribing the scroll.) Note that some spells are effective only when cast on an item or items. In such a case, the scroll user must provide the item when activating the spell. Activating a scroll spell is subject to disruption just as casting a normally prepared spell would be. Using a scroll is like casting a spell for purposes of arcane spell failure chance.

To have any chance of activating a scroll spell, the scroll user must meet the following requirements.

The spell must be of the correct type (arcane or divine). Arcane spellcasters (wizards, sorcerers, and bards) can only use scrolls containing arcane spells, and divine spellcasters (clerics, druids, paladins, and rangers) can only use scrolls containing divine spells. (The type of scroll a character creates is also determined by his class.)
The user must have the spell on her class list.
The user must have the requisite ability score.

If the user meets all the requirements noted above, and her caster level is at least equal to the spell's caster level, she can automatically activate the spell without a check. If she meets all three requirements but her own caster level is lower than the scroll spell's caster level, then she has to make a caster level check (DC = scroll's caster level + 1) to cast the spell successfully. If she fails, she must make a DC 5 Wisdom check to avoid a mishap (see Scroll Mishaps). A natural roll of 1 always fails, whatever the modifiers. Activating a scroll is a standard action (or the spell's casting time, whichever is longer) and it provokes attacks of opportunity exactly as casting a spell does.

Lying? Why only a black-hearted rake...a scoundrel....a pirate among men, who has no regard for honor or propriety would dare LIE to a cavalier of Sir Diesal's obvious status.

Yeah, someone like Barnacus.

How do you reckon he will figure it out? With his INT of 10 or with his WIS of 7?
