Hi there! Thanx! Its an honor just to be nominated. Especially since I had been just lurking for years.

1. When did your gaming begin?
My viral vector into gaming was the ancient blue box edition of D&D run by a visiting cousin when I was ten. I promptly went out and got AD&D, had nightmares about that picture of rot grubs from the Monster Manual, but was hooked.

2. What RPG made you really enjoy gaming?
D&D that's everyone's gateway drug right? These days I like pretty much anything Powered by the Apocalypse, and Burning Wheel. But I find everything from Pathfinder crunch to super rules light storytelling games to be enjoyable.

3. Cats?
Yes, I have a pretty advanced cat infestation, but haven't crossed into double digit territory yet. Cat rescue is dangerous, kids. It leads to accumulation of lovable furballs that delight in destroying all your nice things.

So, blatant plug time. Please check out The Eschaton. It's about politics and society in the far future. All player characters are the most influential people in their own organization (which can be an entire planetary government). Advancement is gained through playing out flaws and relationship baggage in a way that makes thing more difficult for your character. The player/GM power balance is shifted to something a little more even i.e. players set their own scenes, everyone gets input into NPC generation. But there is also a strategic aspect, as the scene structure built into the game ensures that there are always more fires to put out than there are opportunities to fan or extinguish said fires. The Eschaton is still in development, but a fully playable version can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TdovlFlRRVACUz_wBV9GWzr1...

I also stream TTRPGs on twitch Sundays at 4pm PST and Mondays at 10am PST at https://www.twitch.tv/rpglory

Thanks again!

A Sunrise or sunset?
Sunset. If I see the sunrise it generally means I've stayed up too late.

B Ocean or lake?
Endless pelagic depths over glorified puddles always.

C What's the farthest place you've ever travelled to?
India, it was magical in a positive sense and a tragic horrorshow.

D If money (or nothing else for that matter) would be no object, where would you travel to?
Well if I could upload a copy of my consciousness, instantaneously squirt it to a robotic body on the nearest exoplanet with sentient life, and later re-integrate the experience with my original consciousness, there.

E If you could go back in time and meet any one person you'd like to, who'd you meet and why?
Murray Bookchin. I'd love to tell him that a federation inspired by his ideas of eco-techo-anarchism emerged in northern Syria eight years after his death in 2004. And once he recovers being mindblown, add that it's somehow managed to avoid being crushed by downright unfriendly neighbors through to the present.

F Your favourite pizza toppings?
Artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, crushed red pepper

G Any pets?
9 cats (one of which is in my lap as I type this), 1.5 dogs (its complicated), 1 gecko, 1 newt with fire in its belly

H What's the weirdest food you actually happen to love?
Weird is in the eye-stalks of the beholder. Tobiko sushi? Fudge-covered peppermint Trader Joe's O's? There's an egg and okra Burmese curry I adore.

I What was the last book you read? Did you enjoy it?
Ken Macleod's Emergence, the third in the Corporation Wars trilogy. I liked it a lot. It fed my love of post-singularity stuff nicely.
J What was the last film you saw? Would you recommend it?
Thor: Ragnarok. It was my third viewing and I generally don't like re-watching media. So, yeah.

K When buying RPGs, do you prefer dead tree or PDF?
PDF, for the lower cost, copy/pasta, and searchability.

d10-1 Do you use music while roleplaying ?
Ted, the GM of one of the RPG streams I do, uses music pretty effectively. When I'm running, trying to DJ at the same time feels like it would take up too much of my already over strained mental capacity.

d10-3 When it comes to game prep, what do you prefer: Some keywords for every scene/npc/whatever or a whole paragraph of information ?
When I was running D&D, I'd write about a paragraph of semi-shorthand for each NPC that seemed likely to be relevant that session. Plus I would use online resources to make maps in Roll20 for anywhere that seemed likely to have a fight go down or be explored. Oh, and all sorts of custom NPCs and monsters.
Sooo the game I'm developing requires 0 prep, and that's pretty much all I run these days.

d10-4 Open or concealed dice rolls ?
I'm a relatively recent convert to open.

d10-5 Urban or rural ?
Urban. I like intrigue.

d10-6 Cat or dog ?
Both, with a slight preference for the ornery independence of cats. But don't tell the dogs. It's not fair to fault them for their loyalty.

d10-7 How many dice do you own ?
Just one bag full. The habit is under control, I swear.

d10-8 What sport do you take exercises in ?
Until I get a HTC Vive setup, so I can exercise as a mech competitively crushing cities beneath my feet, my only sport is walking a pit bull.

d10-9 Did you try Play by Video (PbV, Hangouts...) ?
99% of the RPGs I play are streamed using Roll20 and either Discord or Skype. I used to use Hangouts until the 'upgrade'.

d10-0 What's your favorite LEGO theme ?
LEGO has come a looong way since my obsession with them morphed into other obsessions. But I really loved the generic space theme.

And in memoriam to Steven Heinrich some more questions:

d10-1d10-1 Do you dance ?
Nope

d10-1d10-2 Do you dance like nobodies watching ?
OK, sometimes when nobody's watching.

d10-1d10-3 What type of music do you listen to ?
I'm on a huge psychedelic black metal kick. Oranssi Pazuzu, Ruins of Beverast, and Altar of Plagues are some faves.

d10-1d10-4 What's your favorite group ?
It feels wrong to narrow it down to Oranssi Pazuzu. But right now they are kind of my go to. In the future this is bound to change.

d10-1d10-5 What's your favorite song ?
Lahja by the same off of they're album Värähtelijä. It has this super trippy xylophone solo (WTF I know) that just melts my brain.

d10-1 What is your favourite role playing game?
Mine, because it unsurprisingly hits a genre sweet spot for me, is somehow completely in line with my game design philosophy, and allows for an exploration of positive visions of the future. That said, there is an elegance to the way the mechanics of Burning Wheel drive character development, that I've never seen matched.

d10-2 What are your favourite dice?
d10-0 Aesthetically it speaks to me. And the way two of them combine to produce a percentile result is sorta cool.
d10-3 What is your favourite book?
Wait, you want me to narrow it down from GRR Martin's A Storm of Swords, Practically any Expanse novel, Charles Stross' Singularity Sky, Ann Leckie's Ancillary Justice, Walter Jon Williams' Aristoi, Elizabeth Bear's Karen Memory, Frank Herbert's Dune, and a dozen or so others? No thank you.

d10-4 And film?
Narrowing here is really hard too. I'm gonna say Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. It's not a perfect movie. Generally speaking I don't like that one character Michael Cera plays in every role. But the gestalt of the movie is rofl funny and a weird sort of ultra cool.

d10-5 Chose one: Sword, Axe or bow?
Sword for the cool factor, even though I'll probably get picked apart by archers.

d10-6 A genre you have never tried and you would like to?
Solarpunk. But I'm cheating because I read Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars Trilogy. I'm pretty sure those are the only books in that sub-genre I've read though.

The launch was a little rough. But it works quite well now. And the way it consistently arranges participants in the same corners of the screen every time is a huge improvement over Skype for streaming.

Microscope. It's a little storytelling game THAT GENERATES ENTIRE CAMPAIGNS IN THE COURSE OF PLAY.

1 What game is your biggest disappointment? Why?
People are gonna hate me for this, but Fiasco. The setup is cool, but the system for the Tilt and Aftermath seem overcomplicated and don't make sense to me. I don't want to dump on the game. A lot of people like it. But it's the only story game I've tried that really doesn't click for me, even though there are some really cool playset settings available for it.
