Learning experience for new GM and players.

The rules are here:

http://basicfantasy.org/downloads/Basic-Fantasy-RPG-Rules-r1...

Download and read...character creation is in the beginning.

Roll your stats using home dice or any online program.

Believable stats, you can't have six 18s but you don't have to have sucky stats either, like all 9s.

Equip your character from the book, whatever type of armor allowable by class.

No magic weapons, no retainers.

You can roll for gold just keep it don't spend it on basic equipment.

Post your character here:

https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/230017/bhyeti-pbf-bfrpg-p...

You are ready to go!

I'd be willing to give this a try. My roots are in "old school", but I'm new to anything RPG-ish (except story mode) PBF.

So 3 so far?

I'll download the rules shortly and run through them.

You are running the adventure/campaign, yes?

As for adventure ideas... I'm open to most ideas. How many do we have in our party? Any backstory? There was this one time when I found myself lost in the back alleys of Scarton. It was kind of late in the evening, and I stumbled into this little shop to get out of the rain and surprised a group of 4. They were staring a map on the table that looked surprisingly like...

DMing, if the general consensus is yes and maybe go along for the ride. I suggest we start small...a quick adventure to get our bearings.

I have the Basic Fantasy paperback, and just had a Labyrinth Lord PbF game that came to a premature end, so I could go for some OSR fun.

P.S. Hi Mitch!

I would be interested for a number of reasons:
- No prior of PbF (newbie - although lots of PbM experience back in the day)
- No prior experience of BRP system
- I like the idea of a group of enthusiastic people all new to PbF

Sadly, this particular game has come a little too early for me. I purchased D&D 5th Ed PHB for a local F2F RPG group for a game starting in October. I am very conscious that one's enthusiasm often exceeds one's free time.

I'll bookmark the thread and enjoy as a spectator.

I am a firm believer that if you are present you might as well participate.
This tends to work exceedingly well for games. The last car race and golf tournament I attended, it didn't work out quite as well, but luckily for us all, this is a game!

So I say - you posted here, you're playing here. Welcome to the BRP Newb Party! Our departure to the Caves of Chaos (psst... don't worry, the name is just to scare ya. They are just a myth, but they attract a fair number of novice adventurers and we can pick up all the stuff they dropped when they ran away in fright. Wait, wha??? What do you mean WE are novices too?) ... umm, anyway the departure is scheduled for ... very soon.

Welcome aboard!

As PBF games go, you generally only need to post once a day during the week and once over the weekend...you may still not feel you have the free time for that but, since you're new to PBF, just thought I'd mention it...

The rules are downloadable and reminiscent of the BECMI rules.

I'll have to pass, the boardgamegeek site is blocked by the school district, so I can't see any of the threads. For some reason though they don't block the rpg site.

If you substitute rpggeek.com for boardgamegeek.com in the URL it takes you to exactly the same page. Would that work for you?
