I was about to post this month's design call on Monday and figured I'd wait until the 8th. Then promptly forgot until today!

Sorry for the delay...

One of the more cerebral minor topics kicking around my head lately concerns the reliability of gods in fantasy games.

So in a fantasy game, can the god(s) do anything they want to (are they really god-like)? Are they eternal? Do they know everything? Can they see the future?

Or could a cleric "fool" a god into granting spells they're not "worthy" to cast? Can a god actually foretell the future? Or are they just really powerful, really intelligent beings that are just... really powerful and really intelligent? But otherwise not so special?

Similar to ctimmins, I'd love to see thoughts on a fantasy world/universe that was categorically devoid of divine beings. Not necessarily without religion - intelligent creatures will believe what they want - but gods do not exist. How would you handle magic, monsters, demons/devils, etc?

The proceeding two posts detail areas of consideration in which I am very interested. I'd like to write an article about it. But this program specifically - GM Workshop - doesn't seem to be about articles. Instead it is geek lists of entries about it. How do the two posters want that addressed?

Perhaps it would fit better HERE, as a Behind the Screen article?

Though it does feel more like a workshop topic to me. I dunno. Clark? Mulligans?

I do feel that they would both be better suited as an article for BtS and was actually going to suggest that!

I think for these Workshop designs that it is best if we try to stick to People, Places, and Things.

Oi, ya, you're right, not sure what I was thinking. It's definitely way more broad strokes.

Could certainly take a microscope to it and design specific things with an absence of divinity in mind, but that isn't what either of us is talking about.
