The seeding is done (see here) and the tournament bracket is set. Do you think you can predict what your fellow geeks' favorite monsters are?

The office pool is free to enter. Just make picks on a Google spreadsheet and send them to me for your chance to win:

100 for the winner!
25 for 2nd place
10 for 3rd place
15 for last place (must make all picks and tie breakers)

The tournament will start on Friday (it's late, I know, I blame my 2 month old son...it can't be *my* fault!) So completed brackets will be due by 10am US Central time on Friday, March 21st.

Points will be awarded as follows:
1 point for each correct answer in the 1st round
2 points for each correct answer in the 2nd round
3 points for each correct answer in the 3rd round (Sweet Sixteen)
4 points for each correct answer in the 4th round (Elite 8)
6 points for each correct answer in the 5th round (Final 4)
10 points for correctly picking the champion

There are two tie breakers and the tie breaker still applies for last place prize. (ie you still have to guess closest to "win" last place, not furthest away).

1st tie breaker: The Champion's winning percentage in the championship match
2nd tie breaker: The total number of votes in the championship match

Here's what you have to do: (these instructions are also included in the spreadsheet)

1) Go to this link to get the bracket spreadsheet (docs.google.com):
2014 Favorite D&D Monster Madness Bracket

2) The spreadsheet is View Only. You must go to File -> Make a Copy... to save a copy to your own Google drive. Unfortunately it doesn't look like Data Validation (which is what makes the drop down boxes) works when downloading as a file on to your hard drive. If you don't have a google account please Geekmail justplainchips or send me an email at justplainchips [at] gmail [dot] com and I can create a personal copy for you that you can edit. That is not preferred though!

3) In the "Bracket" tab, choose the winner of each match from the green drop down boxes for all 63 matches.

4) Enter numbers for the tie breakers in the green boxes below the championship match. The first tie breaker is what percentage of the votes (a number from 50 to 100) that you think the champion will get in the championship match. The second tie breaker is how many votes total you think that the championship match will have when it is all said and done.

5) After making all of your picks and tie breakers go to the "Picks" tab. Columns B and C there just so you can double check that your picks look good. Click on the "A" at the top of the first column to highlight it and then press Ctrl-C or Command-C to copy it. Then paste that info into a geekmail to justplainchips on BGG. No editing is necessary. Please just copy and paste.

6) That's it! Subscribe to this thread to keep tabs on updates and standings.

and of course...
7) Finally, join in the fun and vote for your favorites! And tell everyone you know to participate. If you can convince them to vote for your favorites, all the better. (but please don't spam the forums) Also be sure to subscribe to the subscription thread to make sure you don't miss anything else.

Thanks to everyone who has already entered. There's still plenty of time to get your entry in and, but don't wait too long!

Just a quick note. I apologize to all of the yuan-ti fans out there. I misspelled it in the seeding. If you choose yuan-ti to win any matches DO NOT EDIT OR CORRECT IT or you won't match up with my master sheet when I'm tallying the results.

Alright, entries to the office pool are closed. I didn't get quite as many entries as I had hoped (less than last year) but that just means a better chance for each of the participants to win the big prize!

Here are the entrants:
cleonhard
CPiz
dragontrainer
francisthe3rd
i3ullseye
manyslayer
Markus Hagenauer
Pawndawan
pfrsantos
shawnssica
YogSothsauce

In vague handwavey terms how about, are the Fearsome Four and projected Monster Mash champ exactly what you'd expect or a total surprise or a bit of a mix?

Fearsome Four, I like that. I'm going to use that.

No two entries have the same Fearsome Four. There are a few matches for semis and champ. All of them seem "reasonable" and not too out there, even if some Fearsome Four choices have already bowed out of the first round.

Also, I'm embarrassed to report that the bug in the spreadsheet from last year made it into this year's spreadsheet as well! I thought I had changed my master copy, but clearly I did not. So I'm sorry but Game 59 will not enter into the standings

Hey everyone, I have a couple questions related to microbadges.
I asked one of the questions on the main GeekList: would you be interested in a FD&DMMM microbadge if there was one?

Poll
Would you be interested?
Would you be interested in a FD&DMMM microbadge?
Yes - I'd buy it right now
No - But there should be one
No - That doesn't seem like a very good idea.

Then my second question relates to the office pool. I don't know how it would work, or if it could work. But would you be interested in a special award microbadge for the winner of the office pool?

Poll: Office Pool microbadge
Would you be interested in having a champion's microbadge awarded to the winner of the office pool every year?
Yes
No

Any other ideas? Also, please comment on whether this is possible and how I might go about it. Again, they were just ideas bouncing around in my head.

Sadly, it was going to be impossible for francisthe3rd to catch him as you both had the same finalists and champions.

And congrats to dragontrainer for holding on to that 3rd place spot by a single point over the final 3 rounds!

And to pfrsantos...neither you nor Markus Hagenauer had a correct pick after the second round, but you did just that much worse than him in the first round to hold on to last place.

Enjoy your winnings everyone! I'd sure appreciate it if you replied so I can tip you here. But I'll get you your either way.
