Welcome to the new IC thread for the Lost City adventure. Here are some helpful links you may need:

[IC] D&D B4 The Lost City, Part 1

After you descend the stairs to the 3rd Tier, Bram remembers a map that Kanadius had sketched out for him before he was blinded. It is by no means complete, but it at least shows which areas of the tier are controlled by which factions.

I had always intended to give this to you. It makes sense that Kanadius would want a new brother to know where each faction's territory is. Sorry I did not mention him giving this to you earlier.

You follow the corridor to the south until it turns east and then north again, ending at a door. Next to the door on the wall is a stone button with the following symbol on it.

Boldukr looks at the symbol and doesn't remember it. He examines the door and button for any obvious traps.

ooc: is there a doorknob or any other obvious way to open the door, or is the button the only feature?

The door is just like all the others you have seen in the pyramid so far. It is a stone-slab door. So far, you have opened the others by simply pushing them inward. They also have a grip carved into them so that they can be pulled closed from the outside.

Peevus cautiously examines the button to see if it is trapped or to understand its mechanism. He will then move on and check the door. "If I press the button do youse all fink someone will open the door?"

Bram, is this the way you came for your initiation ceremony? Do you remember how the Brothers Gorm opened the door?

NPCing Bram's answer to keep things moving

"We did indeed come this way. In fact, it was outside this very door that Kanadius and the other were blinded by the spitting cobras. See, there they are!" he says, pointing to two serpent corpses shoved against the corridor wall. "One escaped. But, yes, we passed through this door. They pushed this button, and there was quite a rumbling! When it subsided, they opened the door. We entered a corridor with a door on the other end. Near it was a panel of stone buttons. I did not see which one they pushed! But when they did, the passage moved, making the same rumbling sound. When it was done, they opened the door, and we followed another corridor to our destination."

"I heard that, Bug!" Chubby says from the back. Chubby lights his pipe up.

Owl grumbles from the back, "Be ready for trouble, this seems to be a perfect place for an ambush."

He hefts his hammer to his shoulder, ready for trouble.

As soon as Oswald presses the button, there a loud rumbling behind the door that reverberates even into the floor beneath the party's feet. After almost a minute, the sound subsides.

The party opens the door into a corridor. Inside the corridor, next to the door they walked in, is a panel of 8 stone buttons with symbols on them. Near the far door is an identical set of buttons.

I have number them so you can refer to them easily, but the numbers are difficult to see unless you blow the image up. They are numbered like this:

1 2
3 4
5 6
7 8

Boldukr walks to the far end and notices that the door there is the same type as the one the party entered. There is also an identical set of buttons next to it.

Spensor cannot make out the language of the ruins, but he does notice that Rune 1 is identical to the button that they pushed outside the door.

Spensor starts to rationalize outloud "According to the map, there are 8 doors out of the circular room. The one we entered had the first symbol on it. If we use that as a guide, and start at that door, that'll put symbol 1 at the bottom of the circle. Assigning the symbols in order, lets push the last symbol (#8) and see if it leads to the other hallway marked as being controlled by the Brothers of Gorm. If it doesn't, it'll give us another point to reference."

On which panel are you going to push this button? The one by the door where you came in, or the one by the far door that Boldukr is inspecting?

Owl says to his group, "I agree with the choice of the last symbol. However I also suggest that we open the door to check it is indeed a different corridor and then attempt to go back to our previous corridor so that we know we have indeed got a safe passage out of here."

All of this complex problem solving is making Peevus' brain hurt. "Hey Spensor that's very clever.....but visitin' the Maidens sounds more innerestin' than Gormites."

"That might well be true Peevus but we aren't as yet, friends with the Maidens while we have a Brother of Gorm in our group. Once we figure out the workings of the door, we can visit the more interesting groups."
