The box set includes several resources, many of which contain large amounts of overlapping information (the repetition allows for very easy rules use). The components are described like this:
New Player Briefing (16 pp. - a brief overview for brand new players) - This contains the information necessary to begin playing DragonRaid. Although it permits you to get into the game quickly, you should still read the LightRaider Handbook thoroughly if you want to be a successful player.
Rulebook (24 pp. - essentially a "Player Handbook") - This short booklet contains the rules that you need to know to play DragonRaid. [The contents are] included in the Adventure Master Manual as well as published separately as a handy reference for players.
Lightraider Handbook (142 pp. - sort of a setting guide) - This book contains much of the knowledge that your character would have acquired in his studies at DragonRaider Academy. All players (and the Adventure Master) need to read this book thoroughly.
Adventure Master Manual (128 pp. - essentially a "Game Master Guide") - This comprehensive manual is for Adventure Masters only. The rest of the players should not read it. It is punched for insertion in a binder so that subsequent material can be added.
The Lightraider Test Adventure Guidebook (44 pp. - introductory scenario) - This is the first DragonRaid adventure. It is designed for beginning players and Adventure Masters. Only Adventure Masters should read this GuideBook; players should read the introduction given on pages 14-15 of the New Player Briefing.
Rescue of the Sacred Scrolls Adventure Guidebook (76 pp. - a beginner's adventure) - This second adventure leaves more decisions to the players and Adventure Master; it assumes that you have already played The LightRaider Test. The Guidebook contains everything necessary for the adventure, including cue cards and several copies of the player's briefing.
