What is so important?
Wanderer's Codex is a table top RPG game that has strong roots in D&D and Warhammer table top games.
My game has to stand out from other games though and i made sure to do so.
Throughout the design process and even as i continue to work on the game i strive to make the game very simplified, easy to get into, paced nicely, and most importantly a lack of erasers or printers.
Every sheet, ability, and rule in the game makes sure the player does not have to have a giant eraser for rewriting things or a pack of black ink to print out new sheets every time they level up.
I nicely put everything you need for your character on 1 sheet of paper for the purpose of completely eliminating these annoyances. You will have to write things in but you'll be fine.
I strongly believe that the less frustrating you make the game the more attention the player will have for the game and therefore it will be a more fun experience!
Congrats its easy, but is it fun?
Wanderer's Codex is Indie made! If you dont know what Indie is let me give you a little bit of a rundown.
I made this game because I AS A PLAYER wanted this type of game! I make sure to stick to what I WANT as a player and what OTHERS want because they see things i don't.
I LOVE D&D but i wanted a tad easier, faster, neater way to play. My solution was to make Wanderer's Codex.
OK, you might say its fun ... what IS the game?
As i said earlier, it takes a lot of ideas from Warhammer table top games, D&D, and a whole bunch of RPG games.
The game is focused on the combat of an adventure that players take part of. The players are allowed to freely make their own story as the Game Master plays along with the players pointing them in different directions.
While the game does not have the whole "out of combat" abilities and skills, that does not mean that it won't in the future. The game focuses on Combat and that's what it excels at.
The game is recommended for 3-9 players but 2 players is allowed.
Combat is turn based and split into the enemy phase and player phase.
The sides take turns using their major and minor actions to move, use abilities, and deal damage.
All movement and situations are on 1in x 1in Grid paper or mats.
Damages are calculated Stat vs Stat and players consult an easy to memorize universal chart for hits and such.
Players have to keep track of their Wounds, Mana, and Utility powers using dice.
The 8 Characters have fully fleshed out skill trees that players invest Experience points into in order to upgrade their character's stats or buy new abilities.
Character's are designed with teamwork in mind as some Characters play the team buddy or simply a lone wolf.
COOL! So whats in the box?
The clearly indie Wanderer's Codex box comes packed with as much as i can give you! In the final version i wish to include the following:
- A Rulebook - Full with how to play the game, characters' stats and abilities, a small monster archive, and an entire section for the Game Master.
- 8 playable Characters -
- 42 Enemies -
- 8 Dice -
- A couple of player sheets -
- A couple sheets of grid paper - in case players don't own a mat.
- A generic blank map - usable for players to map out their adventures, plan campaigns, or anything else.
Is any of this possible?
POSSIBLE? I am actually very far into making it happen!
I have the materials IN MY HOUSE to be able to make this happen and all i need to do is get'er done!
