They do exist and their numbers are countless:

Fanzines for RPGs.

They might be commercial, they might be free for all, they might be specialized, they might be general, they might be black and white, they might be full colored - but what they really have to be is:

They have to be in this list, so that we may all see, what kind of fanzines are there around the globe.

Once upon a time ..

Dragon was (or better: is) a magazine revolving around roleplaying in general however with a heavy focus on the D&D System, bringing adventures, new monsters, new characters and everything the dungencrawler's heart admired.

The first issue was printed back in 1976 and the final printed issue came out 2007 - 31 years later.

The magazine is still available, however online exclusively - here:

A magazine revolving around dungeons & dragons but beeing only called "Dragon" was not enough - thus consequently the magazine "Dungeon" was born.

As its sister magazine, it revolved around roleplaying, focusing mainly on D&D. t provided the players with pre-written, playtested game scenarios, called "modules" in the early issues and "adventures" in the later ones ..

The production of "Dungeon" ceased 2007 however, since "Dragon" was read by a larger audience.

Anduin is a German pdf-webzine, emerging from the printed magazine "envoyer".
It is updated irregularly and revolves around roleplaying in general.
Often you can find background information about medieval/steampunk/gothic/swashbuckling/whatsoever topics that are kept very generally so you can use them easily wor your own campaigns.
In most issues there are adventures, characters with complete background and other ideas for certain settings such as DSA, Chuthulu, Werewolf and others.

The Archives date back to issue 61 (from 2001), the current issue is 99 - so there is lots of material, as long as you speak German

You can find the presence of this webzine at www.anduin-fanzine.de

In Germany, DSA (Das schwarze Auge - The dark Eye) was and still is THE main concurrence product to D&D.
Opposed to the hack and slay dungeon crawler, DSA is more a storytelling system emphasizing on character development instead of itemization.

DSA plays in a given world, called "Aventurien" - hence the fanzines name "Aventurischer Bote" (Aventuric Herald) or short "Der Bote".

Der Bote is written by editors of the gaming company and often supported by the large fanbase of the game.
The magazine is somewhat unique, as on the one hand it keeps with its own stories the main story arc of the game world going and on the other hand as it is completely written in a way an Aventuric editor would write it.

A free issue (#109) is available at
http://www.dasschwarzeauge.de/index.php?id=413
To recieve the other issues however, you need to pay for them.

Published out of Texas from the mid 70s to the mid 80s, this magazine covered games ranging from D&D to diplomacy, traveller to star fleet battles, killer and champions. And steve jackson games, too.

One of the best things about the space gamer is that if you subscribed, the magazines came in a protective cover that had cute cartoons and joke content. One of my favorites featured the bizarre character sheet for a fake RPG called Kung-Fu CB Mamas on Wheels vs. the Motorcycle Wrestling Aztec Nuns. The next issue had an errata for said fake game.

good times, man. good times.

Shadis didn't have a very long run, I remember it coming along just as M:tG was hitting the scene.

Shadis went from looking like a fanzine to glossy covers using paintings in a very short time and then faded away.

Shadis featured materials covering a wide spectrum of games but is probably best known for a filler comic strip drawn (amateurishly) by the editor, Jolly Blackburn. That strip was called Knights of the Dinner Table.

Maybe you've heard of it. I hear it turned out to be pretty popular.
