I think we should get to know each other a bit. Building community takes time and a little effort, so this is my little bit of effort to reach out to folks.

Answer the following questions as vaguely or specifically as you wish. I don't want to pressure folk, so skip any question you find too awkward. I just want us to get to know each other a bit. And yes, I'll start.

First, pick an RPG or "RPG Item" to use as your geeklist entry. (If you've never done this before, look for "Add Item" under this header.) Choose a game for whatever reason - doesn't matter to me. Give an explanation of why you chose the game - again, as vague or as specific as you wish. Love it, hate it, curious about it, can't get it out of your mind, etc.

Then answer as many of the following questions as you wish:

1. Where do you live?

2. Is there something about your username and your Avatar you want us to know?

3. How involved are you on the other Geekdo sites (BGG, VGG)?

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?

6. What are some of your favorite things about role-playing?

7. Do you prefer games with a GM or GM-less? Any idea why that's so?

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?

9. Anything else you want us to know about you?

[10. Add your own question!]

When you're done, you can then get free microbadges at Are You on The List? (Free Microbadge... Or Two)!

1. Where do you live?

A small town (barely a metro area) in Northern Arizona. There are a grand total of 14 registered Geeks in the area.

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?

After I moved here almost 5 years ago I started playing Euro games with neighbors and got an account on the Geek to investigate those games. So I was here about a year before RPGG got started.

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?

Since about 1980.

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?

Big time hiatus. I haven't had an opportunity to play in years.

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?

Classic Traveller, Space Opera, and Paranoia. I'd be interested in playing Traveller primarily.

9. Anything else you want us to know about you?

I really got started in gaming playing Avalon Hill and SPI wargames. I've always loved Science Fiction, especially military SF. Traveller was designed by war gamers, and I've always liked the way that the military was described in the Third Imperium.

Ah, Realm of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness, the legendary extension to Warhammer RPG 1st ed... I was 11 years old at the time, and during recess or at lunch break I would see some of my classmates with those big thick books (not so thick now ), all in English, and playing stories around the table, throwing dice and looking at sheet with stats and metal miniatures.

It didn't take long to get me hooked and with the years, I've played many different games, but this one holds a special place in my heart as it's when all started: the hobby but also discovering the beauty of the English language (as it was but the 1st in a long list of books and magazines I purchased that weren't in French).

So, let's answer the questions now:

1. Where do you live?
I live in Solliès-Ville, a small town near Toulon, in the South-Eastern region of France (between Marseille and Nice)

2. Is there something about your username you want us to know?
Well, it was during a lonely night while working in the US, I was thinking about the 64 hexagrams of the I-Ching and whether they had a shadow-side that could affect the process of divination. I also had to chose a username for some forum, so I killed two birds with one stone.

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?
I haven't really been involved with BGG except recording plays since the beginning of this year. But I find it easier to write something here, especially thanks to PbFs.

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?
Roughly? Almost 25 years

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?
There have been ups and downs of course, a bit like a roller-coaster, some times losing interest, at other times spending all my free time into it.

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing?
Basically, the process of imagination shared with a bunch of buddies, and being able to talk about stories played together many years after!

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way?
Personally, I prefer JdR (pronounced jee-day-err). It stands for "jeu de rôle" (French for role-playing game, with or without hyphen )

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?
Wow, that's a tough one. Many I'd reckon. But let's say that the most played ones have been Warhammer System, Storytelling, d20 System, but the one I like best is Storytelling

9. Anything else you want us to know about you?
Nothing relevant to say for that one, sorry

I picked this because several friends of mine and I have become rather fond of the system and setting, and I'm running my first game with it.

1. Where do you live?
Georgia, USA

2. Is there something about your username you want us to know?
Because people usually ask, FUBAR backwards.

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?
Not particularly. Read the reviews, never created an account.

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?
Since 2000.

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?
For 3 years, fairly often with one year of solid weekly play. Then 3 years of off and on play. Then 4 years of boardgames and no RPGs. Then a year of solid play, a year of sporadic play, and just started up a group with some coworkers and friends.

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing? (* - see first list comment, below!)
Favorite thing: I enjoy coming together with good friends and creating a story. I've never run until recently, so I always enjoyed exploring the worlds the GMs would create and working with others to overcome the various challenges.

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way?
If I spell it out it's either roleplaying or role playing depending on how much I like the spacebar (space-bar, space bar?) that day.

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?
Of systems that were played more than once, 10 or so. Perhaps another half dozen systems that I've played one shots (convention games or filler games). In total, I'd play about 75% of them again. Really only a few that held no particular interest for me.

9. Anything else you want us to know about you?
Not yet.

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo? Just found this place.

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs? Since I was 7 so... 34 years

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus? Always little breaks here and there when I move around.

I chose Deadlands because that was the first RPG I played, just a year ago.

1. Where do you live?

Wisconsin.

2. Is there something about your username you want us to know?
My fiance's username is MasterGeek, so he gave me the idea to be MistressGeek. Although I think it sounds like I'm a girl he's cheating on his girlfriend/wife with (Mistress) I thought it was really cute.

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?
I posted on some of the forums, but that's about it.

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?
About a year. When I met MasterGeek, he got me into it. :-)

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?
Since I started playing about a year ago, it's been pretty steady.

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing? (* - see first list comment, below!)
I really enjoy meeting up with some friends. Also, I like to try to be someone different than who I am in every day life. It's a lot of fun to just completely change characters.

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way?

I just say RPG

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?
I had to ask MasterGeek, and he said I've played nine. We like to try all sorts of different games, right now we are playing pathfinder, mutants and masterminds, and airship pirates

9. Anything else you want us to know about you?
um.... I'm a mommy to a very special little (soon-to-be)two-yea-old boy. I'm engaged to my wonderful fiance (and infamous RPGGeeker) MasterGeek, I'm going to school and work nights. whoo-hoo!

I just love Spycraft 2.0. There's just something special about all the different ways you can make a character incredibly unique, and also that there are so many great choices for a particular type of character. I find that I can never really optimize a character since no matter how you organize a build, you'll have to leave one of your favorite feats behind. There are just so many good ones! I also love the detail that went into the skill-list. I think I spend more time balancing the skillset for a new character than I do for everything else combined. I personally find the game to be one of the great modern themed games out there, but it too often gets overlooked.

1. Where do you live?

Santa Barbara, California, at the moment, but always somewhere in Southern California.

2. Is there something about your username you want us to know?

Well, I guess I've used it as a handle for almost 20 years (Wow, can it really have been that long?). I guess I've had it so long that it almost feels as natural to me as my given name does.

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?

I started visiting BGG consistantly about 5 months ago and just in the last few weeks began exploring RPGG. On BGG I've spent quite a bit of time reading articles and looking at new games, but I'm not sure how involved I've been, other than that.

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?

15+ years, I guess. I started joining a game with some of my friends in junior high and sorta got hooked.

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?

Steadily, but with various degrees of vigor. Games do seem to be the thing that falls by the wayside when life catches up with you.

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing?

Favorite thing? Golly, that's tough. I suppose I'd have to say the interactive nature of roleplaying, and I don't just mean that you're interacting with the game. The level of interaction between players and between players and the gamemaster tends to be incredibly high, much higher than most other types of games, I would imagine. I like the level of complexity that arises solely from player-player interaction, and I think RPGs have a lot of that.

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way?

Roleplaying, of course. How else would you spell it?

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?

I guess a rough figure would be around 20. I might be forgetting a few, but I'm pretty sure it's close to that. I'd play just about any of them again if I had the right group of players for the game.

9. Anything else you want us to know about you?

Nope. I guess that about sums it up.

Not very just joined the site last week.

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?
now this scares me about 20 years.

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?
A couple of hiatus due to moving about not being close to a game store or group.

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing?
I have found that when I started it allowed me to excercise my imagination now I must add listening to people stories about how they messed up and ruined or killed thier own characters is fun.

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way?
I do not care as long as a person uses it consistantly when I am reading I could care less.

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?
I do not know how many systems I have played I am generally willing to try anything once. I have not run into a game that I would not play again or atleast an enviroment again may not want to play with a particular gm again.

9. Anything else you want us to know about you?

I picked Slipstream because it broadly reflects my taste in gaming and literature. Savage Worlds is my go to system lately. Love to run it, love to play it, love to create with it. I've never played Slipstream, but I am a fan of pulp literature. A lot of the stuff written between 1900 and 1940 is just amazing.

1. Where do you live?

Out in the country on a hobby farm near Eau Claire, WI.

2. Is there something about your username you want us to know?

That's my username on several gaming related sites - TrollBridge, RPGNow, RPG.net, Pinnacle, etc. I earned the nickname about 7 years ago when I was playing a lot of blues harmonica. I was at a blues jam, and one of the other players introduced me as "Monster" Mike because of my "Monster" tone.

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?

Not at all. I came in through the RPGGeek door. I'm mostly not a big boardgamer. Outside of RPGs, I mostly play chess, spades, and the NYT crossword.

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?

Since 1980. Started with the Blue Box.

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?

Quit playing in early 1986. Started playing again in late 2010.

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing? (* - see first list comment, below!)

RPGs can be the best gaming experience you can have. And the worst. And it's mostly up to you which it will be.

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way?

Uhh... I think I use all three. Probably the hyphenated form most often. Tough question to answer, since I don't think about how I spell something when I spell it. I just spell it. Let's just try it and see how it goes...

I like roleplaying
I like role-playing
I like role playing.

Two separate words seems unnatural to me. So either the hyphen or the compound word.

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?

RPGs I Have Known

Looks like 26. I'd play almost any of them again if someone offered a game, but roughly half of them I would not seek to play again.

9. Anything else you want us to know about you?

I have a wife, 2 kids, a dog, 2 house cats, ~10 barn cats, 5 horses, and ~20 chickens. I'm restoring my 100-year-old dairy barn. My wife and kids are awesome and amazing, and I love them dearly. I coach the chess club at our local small town high school. I work as a fix-the-process guy for a large multispecialty medical clinic. I got my MS in nuclear physics in 1990, but have worked as a (something) engineer since then.

I don't often get the chance to let my hair down as a designer Troy E. Taylor-- either for publication or when GMing in a longstanding campaign.

But with UMC, it was a chance to cover unexplored territory in a fun, relaxed way, without worrying about the cultural aspects of halflings or the nature/alignment of various dragons.

After all, how many rpgs let you play a cheerleader?

As a supplement for a d20 Modern game, I think the material folds into a variety of settings. It works with either a straight no-magic, Urban Arcana, or Scooby-Do-style hijinks game.

1. Where do you live?
In central Illinois, surrounded by cornfields and near the Illinois River.

2. Is there something about your username you want us to know?
It's my real name, except for the lack of spaces. (I always use the middle initial to differentiate me from the Troy Taylor who is also from central Illinois and who is a popular author of real-life ghost stories.)

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?
Never knew about it.

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?
I believe Jimmy Carter was president. But I'm lousy at math.

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?
There was a gap of several years in my 20s during a period when I was trying to get my career established. But I still read and followed the hobby.

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing? (* - see first list comment, below!)
It's a gathering of friends around the table, sharing a meal, sharing an adventure and letting our imaginations loose!

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way?
My inner copy editor wants to write role-playing game, but my heart makes it one word: roleplaying.

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?
It's hard to say. I really don't stray far from D&D (in its various editions). I don't experiment much, to begin with. When I do try another game, it's usually a one-shot.

9. Anything else you want us to know about you?
I never got into freelancing/design for professional aspirations. It was born from a desire "give back" something to the gaming community, specifically those that played D&D. Actually getting published fulfilled that desire.

Being a part of Gnome Stew has been a wonderful experience.

Okay, my game of choice is pretty obvious; it's Forsooth!, the Shakespearean RPG that my buddy Sam Liberty and I are putting out in a couple weeks. I won't spend any more time plugging it here; there's more info on the game page, and at http://spoiledflushgames.com.

1. Where do you live?
Cambridge, MA

2. Is there something about your username you want us to know?
Nope. It doesn't really mean anything, just one of a variety of kinda cool sounding usernames I use on occassion.

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?

I post there every so often, and have made pointless comments on various boardgames that no one is ever going to read. I love both sites, but I'm a lurker by nature.

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?

I guess around 14 years now. Feels longer.

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?
There are always little mini-hiatuses when you're between regular groups, but there's never been a period of time when I didn't consider myself a role playing gamer.

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing? (* - see first list comment, below!)

My favorite thing about roleplaying games as a whole is how much imagination and creativity they allow players to exercise. I love solving problems in unconventional ways (or seeing players solve problems in unconventional ways). I love describing actions that go beyond "I use Game Option X." I love being able to be a smartass when a GM has a character give too much exposition. Basically, I love everything that makes RPGs a shared, free form, creative experience.

Oh, and last but not least, as a designer, they're way easier to prototype than board games.

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way?

I prefer making some poor copy editor make sure I'm being consistent.

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?

Without actually counting, it's probably around 20, and I'd probably play 35% of them again.

9. Anything else you want us to know about you?

I'm a halfway decent slam poet, a recovering actor, and a fan of pirate history. I design board games, too; the first, a nifty spacial reasoning game called Cosmic Pizza, should be out later this year.

This one was my first real roleplaying game. I played HeroQuest before but that was more of a boardgame.

1. Where do you live?
Poland, not my homecountry

2. Is there something about your username you want us to know?
uhm... no. The GM is for me being a gamemaster

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?
Not really, I searched on it sometimes, but when I finally registered I found the RPG page on it

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?
Since 1994/5 I think.

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?
Always on and off. I didn't really find many players in the first few years, and I had trouble finding people during some other times.

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing? (* - see first list comment, below!)
Fun, creativity, stuff.

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way?
However I want

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?
I don't have a clue. More than 50? And yes, there were a few duds in there

Eden Studios' Terra Primate is one of my favourite games, a huge success with my players and, I feel, generally underappreciated.

1. Where do you live?
In a small city just south of Utrecht in the Netherlands.

2. Is there something about your username you want us to know?
It's how I spelled my name when I was just learning to read and write.

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?
Not at all.

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?
Roughly since around 1992 or '93.

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?
There was a hiatus approximately 2001-2005. Also, I don't get to play nearly as frequently as I used to and would like to.

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing? (* - see first list comment, below!)
Collectively experiencing, and sometimes creating, fictional worlds and characters.

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way?
Roleplaying.

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?
About 7. I'd play 4 of them again, so that'd be 57%.

9. Anything else you want us to know about you?
I hate elves and hobbits/halflings. D&D-esque high fantasy is my least favourite genre.
I've never played any version, variant or clone of D&D/d20 and I have no plans to change that any time soon.

1. Where do you live?

2. Is there something about your username you want us to know?

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?
Basically (still) a lurker...

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?
Since the early 80s

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?
Pretty much constantly, with only one 1-year hiatus.

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing? (* - see first list comment, below!)
I just love the building of a whole world, with stories and heroes, and how sometimes the total becomes more than the sum of its parts...

7a. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way?
I like to spell it correctly...

7b. Do you prefer games with a GM or GM-less? Any idea why that's so?
I'm a firm believer in the a-good)GM-can-improve-a-game-teffold, so with GM for me.

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?
Dozens. Of those, I'd give at least half another go in a cold second, be all "meh" about most of the others, and walk away from just a few.

9. Anything else you want us to know about you?

Stargate pointed out this thread to me so I thought I'd add my 20 cents worth.
I chose the Post-Apocalyptic genre rather than a particular RPG because I like the exploration theme in those settings, (I'm motivated by curiosity in real life so the exploratory side of games appeals to me). That plus the fact that I have a number of RPGs that I like too much to decide which one should have been given primacy for this list!

1. Where do you live?
Perth, Western Australia. Apparently it's the world's most isolated capital city - about 2000km from the nearest capital city of Adelaide in South Australia.
For a State that covers 2,645,615 km2 (1,021,478 sq mi) and 20,781 km (12,913 mi) of coastline, Western Australia has a population of only 2.34 million. Perth has 1.74 million of that population figure and we still have only one - read it ONE! - game store, (we used to have three but the other two went out of business for various reasons)

2. Is there something about your username you want us to know?
Well I have an interest in Egyptology and I used to use the username ShemsuHor (which means Followers of Horus) but some "dumb males" on a few forums I was on thought it meant 'whore' and tried to hit on me so I changed to ReHerakhte (which means Re-Horus of the horizon, it brings together the solar god Re and the god of heaven Horus).
I've continued to use it because it's rarely ever taken by anyone else and I'm still a pretend Egyptologist.

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?
I never was. I came to RPG Geek to check on some RPG product or another and liked the place enough to begin poking around. I then found that I was listed as an Author for Protodimension ezine Issue 4 (Spring 2010) but if I remember this right, my name was spelt incorrectly so I joined to submit the correction (how vain am I? )

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?
Since 1990 when a friend I had been trying to convince since 1988 to try RPGs finally got involved with an AD&D 2nd Ed. group and he invited me to the group.

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?
There's always been one hiatus or other over the years, the worst lasting about 18 months I think but I staid involved through some forum sites (particularly those supporting the Dark Conspiracy RPG)

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing?
Exploration. I'm curious by nature (or call it nosey if you want) and so I really enjoy exploring the game world just to see what's there. Also, my gaming groups have usually blended social gathering with the gaming so RPGs have always been as much a social activity as a game session for me and I enjoy 'getting the nerd on' and 'geeking out' over various topics.

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way?
Never really gave it much thought until now but I've typically spelt it 'roleplaying'. Probably because like Garfield the cat, I'm inclined to laziness.

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?
Actually, very few - AD&D 2nd Ed, D&D 3/3.5/Pathfinder, ShadowRun, Paranoia, Aliens, Cyberpunk 2020, Twilight: 2000/Dark Conspiracy, Mage: The Ascension, Alternity, GURPS.
I'd play any of them again except Mage, I really don't like the rules system.

9. Anything else you want us to know about you?
I'm a fanboy for the Dark Conspiracy game and continue to run various campaigns since I discovered the game in 1991. I own all of the Twilight: 2000 books for both editions and all the Dark Conspiracy books as well as the Cadillacs & Dinosaurs book (a sadly under-rated RPG!). I also have most of the published Forgotten Realms books/boxed sets for AD&D 1st/2nd/3rd editions and a bunch of post-apoc RPGs including Aftermath, The Morrow Project (which is another sadly under-rated game!), AfterWars, Age Of Ruin, Blood Dawn, Taiga, Cadillacs & Dinosaurs and Rogue 417.
Why do I have all this stuff? Coz I'm such a geek for them and I got very obsessive about collecting them - like Pokemon, I had to get 'em all.

I'm also a total fanboy for Burger Games 'Taiga' and 'STALKER' RPGs and I pestered the living crap out of Ville Vuorela for details on when STALKER was going to be published in English. I like to pretend that he got it published just to shut me up whistle

I don't like class-based, level-up mechanics for modern/near-future/sci-fi gaming so d20 Modern, d20 Traveller etc. etc. are systems I'd never play. It's been said that a good GM can compensate for a bad system but that's not true for me, the GM could be Lester Smith, Loren Wiseman, Marc Miller or even Gary Gygax or Dave Arneson, I just couldn't buy into a modern/sci-fi setting that used classes and level-up mechanics.

I get asked this sometimes so here goes...
My avatar is of an Australian Army M113A1 Medium Reconnaissance Vehicle because I used to be in an Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment in the Army Reserve, then I transferred to an Infantry Regiment and finally ended up in an Infantry Reconnaissance Platoon - reconnaissance, curiosity, exploration... I'm sensing some sort of theme here...
I spent a decade in the Army Reserve and I was also an Army Brat, (my father was an officer in the Australia Army) so I've lived in most states in Australia and seen a good portion of the country.

Geek Facts you never actually asked for:
1. I spent a month living in Poland with friends in 2010 and I took a lot of time looking around some of the locales described in the Twilight: 2000 RPG.
2. I own a copy of the Twilight: 2000 1st Ed. adventure City Of Angels (published by 3W), apparently there were only around 2000 copies published. It took several years but I HAD to have it - I'm obsessed.
3. I own a copy of the Dark Conspiracy 2nd Ed. adventure Masks Of Darkness, apparently there were only around 2000 copies published. It took more years than City Of Angels but I HAD to have it - DAMN! I am so obsessed.
4. One of the editors of Protodimension ezine owes me 20 quid.
5. Did I mention that I'm a bit obsessive about my RPG collecting?

Earthdawn is definitly my favorite Highfantasy RPG. And a Troll Sky Raider is more than over the top.

1. Where do you live?
Aachen, Germany

2. Is there something about your username you want us to know?
I use this name over 15 years now. If you would write tower, as a german word, it would be spelled Tauer. (The right german word is Turm) A friend of mine added a Sir, for some reason I can'T remember anymore, but kept it nevertheless.

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?
Not at all.

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?
For a good ten years now.

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?
More from time to time a bit and about to start a steady group.

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing? (* - see first list comment, below!)
I really like to have a easy-going gameplay and with P&P there isn't that much quarrel, who wins.

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way?
I spell it "Pen & Paper"

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?
Really played just DSA 3rd and 4rd Edition and Earthdawn 3rd Edition, but didn't like DSA very much. It have to be more realistic, or really high fantasy.

1. Where do you live? - Hanover NY,

2. Is there something about your username you want us to know? Nope, it's my name, couldn't get the one I wanted, it was already taken.

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo? Not really involved, I've looked up games before but never joined.

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs? - I was trying to figure this out the other day. My brother bought one of the first releases of Star Frontiers. (1985?)

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus? In the late 90's I couldn't get a group together. Every once in a while I could get a few people together but it was rare.

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing? Mechanics. I'm a mechanics geek. I also like exploring worlds and worldbuilding (maybe too much?)

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way? Role Play (with caps)

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again? At one time we had 21 games with active or semi-dormant campaigns going. These days we've been concentrating on The Artifact and Steampunkfitters. We are planning a redo of Star Wars Ep 1-3.

9. Anything else you want us to know about you? Um, I'm a good guy. .. Ok more useful? I've been making RPGs since I was 11ish, I'm a hobby blacksmith and used to do boffer larps although we didn't call them that back then. I'm a big Sci-Fi nerd.

Huh, I've never entered an item here.

1. Where do you live?

Highspire, PA. Just down the road from Harrisburg, the capitol of the state. Soon to rival Detroit for high crime rate !

2. Is there something about your username you want us to know?

I kept it from my screenname on MtGOnline. A mulligan is a do-over. Fits me pretty well.

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?

I spent most of my time there reading about games, trading for games, etc. I did play in a few WereWolf games in the PbFs. I also made a sort of hybrid adventure game that 10 people signed up for. The game was half choose your path adventure, and half dungeon crawl/race.

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?

I started back in the 70s playing D&D, like so many members here on RPGG.

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?

A huge hiatus ! I probably hadn't played an RPG for over twenty years ! If it wasn't for RPGG, I wouldn't be playing now.

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing? (* - see first list comment, below!)

Using my imagination !

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way?

Yes.

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?

Jeez, not many. D&D, AD&D, Pathfinder. I do remember our D&D group back in the day trying out some other RP game, but I can't remember what it was.

great review convinced me that Pathfinder and Rise of the Runelords looks like something our group would all enjoy playing for the next few years...but then again maybe not...

1. Where do you live?
I live in the fine city of Norwich.

2. Is there something about your username that you want us to know?
Mavis has been my nickname since I was about 10 years old.

3. 3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?
Not at all. I discovered RPGG first because I was searching for ideas to improve my GMing.

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?
I started GMing D&D in 1980 and gamed consistently with my friends until 1986 but...

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?
On going to university gaming took a backseat to more hedonistic pursuits (unfortunately for my education). It was 15 years later in 2001 that I started GMing for my wife and two close friends. We have gamed almost every Friday night since.

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing?
Friday nights.

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way?
The editor in me goes for the hyphen.

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?
I have not played many: RuneQuest (1st & 2nd Editions), Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (2nd Edition), Call of Cthulhu (2nd - 6th Edition), Savage Worlds and Dragon AGE.

I would love to be a player more and would probably play any of them but as a GM I have grown very weary of variants of BRP, which is all I ran for nine years. I am interested in trying out more RPG's but as we only play campaigns of 2-3 years duration, the choice of what to play next has to be carefully made. One day Fate Core and Eclipse Phase (First Edition) will get their chance.

9. Anything else you want us to know about you?
I am much more verbose in person than my short responses to the questions suggest. I am an incurable optimist

Well, I choose the Dune thing just because it fits my name nicely.

Here goes:

1. Where do you live?

I live in the Netherlands, some fairly big city in the west.

2. Is there something about your username you want us to know?

It's an aggregation of two words out of the Dune universe. Just a little mixing up and it stuck.

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?

Just a regulair user nothing special

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?

Never have. But I got interested not long ago. I didn't even know what it was about. But the nice people of the RPG geek where there to elaborate.

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?

Same as 4

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing? (* - see first list comment, below!)

What I know of it, it seems pretty much fun and a good get together.

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way?

roleplaying should do fine

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?

I know not of any system. I will have to post a question about that later.

9. Anything else you want us to know about you?

I should say that I think that the RPG bunch is the most fun and a cheery group. But I suppose you'll have to be if you are in to roleplaying.

Curse of the Crimson Throne is the Pathfinder Adventure Path that I'm up next to DM in my D&D group. We've done Rise of the Runelords, and my husband is currently running Legacy of Fire. In a year or so I'll get to do CotCT whistle

1. Where do you live?
Baltimore area of Maryland, USA

2. Is there something about your username you want us to know?
This was the name of my 2nd main character, a ranger in Everquest

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?
Not too involved in any of the .GameGeeks, just a lurker on all of them

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?
Pretty steadily since 2002 when I left college. I tried to play during college, but I never found a group that would teach me, so I was limited to being Zargon during our epic Hero Quest run

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?
No major hiatus other than going from once a week to once a month when I moved out of my parents place to a place closer to work but further from my game group

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing?
I'll be honest, I love hitting things with a sword/magic/bow/etc. Combating things in order to save the world is my favorite thing

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way?
I tend to refer to it as RPing, but typing it out I would probably go with "role playing"

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?
Um, I've played D&D 2.0 (hated it), D&D 3.0 (it was ok), D&D 3.5 (still playing it), Dresden (it's ok, but harder on the DM than it implies and playing is only fun if your DM is decent), and Werewolf (it's ok so far). I guess I would play any of those systems again, I would even give D&D 2.0 another chance if I had a DM that really wanted to run a campaign there.

9. Anything else you want us to know about you?
I'd never seen this thread before and I just wanted to say hello before going back to lurking around and cyber stalking my more active husband

I selected MERS because it was the firt system I ever played.

1. Where do you live?

I live in Germany and to be a little more precise I live near Aachen close to the boarder of Belgium and the Netherlands.

2. Is there something about your username you want us to know?

No. But if you want you can guess one of my favorite authors from my username.

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?

After lurking for quite a while on BGG I became active there shortly before I became here. Allthough I have to admit that I still spend most of my time on the geek in the boardgame section.

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?

Next summer it will be 20 years.

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?

I did not play RPGs for 7 years for strange reasons do not understand any longer.

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing? (* - see first list comment, below!)

I love fantasy books and playing RPGs is like beeing aprt of the book. And ofc it is a fun way to spend time with friends. Or strangers...

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way?

I prefer to spell it Rollenspiel.

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?

About 20 systems and as long as it is with the right people I would play all these systems again.

9. Anything else you want us to know about you?
I mainly play DAS SCHWARZE AUGE. Not because I like the system or the world more than others but because my friends prefer it.

I am selecting Fudge as my item because I saw that sos is giving 5 geek gold per entry
Also, because it's my favourite system for a number of reasons, even if I'd rather play a bad system with the good crowd than a good system with a bad GM or boring players.
As a GM, I am willing to accomodate my players's tastes in rules as long as they are willing to accomodate mines in twisting them beyond recognition if needed.

1. Where do you live?

In Belgium, land of beer. Also, belgians make the best beer in the world. We make pretty good chocolate, too. Did I mention beer? Because who needs chocolate when you can have a beer instead.

2. Is there something about your username you want us to know?

I was a heavy FPS player in a team and "HavocIsHere" was my callsign.
As for Snowball, it's from "Animal Farm".

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?

I've written a few reviews, I rant and rave in RSP, but I am mostly a lurker, although I rate all games I play and I write a comment about them.

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?

Thirty years.

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?

There have been some hiatus. I don't play nearly as much as I used to.

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing? (* - see first list comment, below!)

Immersion. And I like hobbies that feed my daydreaming.

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way?

Jeu de rôle

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?

25 or so, since I don't like conventions and such.
I would play all of them, even the systems I find flawed; a good GM trumps a bad system!

Hello everybody!

As entry in this list, I picked another list - one that I've added to in the last weeks. I didn't know how many German RPGs are out there (and the list isn't even complete yet!) The Malmsturm (1st Edition) fate points on the picture are shiny, but I don't own them - I just thought there should be a pic.

1. Where do you live?
Göttingen, a town in (roughly the middle of) Germany.

2. Is there something about your username you want us to know?
I use asri on some forums. J is the first letter of my first name, and I combined that.

3. How involved, if at all, were you on BGG (BoardGameGeek) before coming to RPG Geekdo?
Not at all. I knew the site, but didn't really use it much.

4. Roughly how long have you played RPGs?
Maybe since 2005.

5. Have you played RPGs pretty steadily, or was there some hiatus?
Pretty steadily, but never intensively (never on a weekly basis or such).

6. What's at least one of your favorite things about role-playing?
I like the creative part: making up people, places, stories. Also, I like the material part: many RPGs have beautiful books and dice. Thirdly, I'm enjoying there's so much to explore: so many games, so much stuff I don't know of yet. It's fun.

7. Do you prefer to spell it: "role-playing", "roleplaying", "role playing", or some other way? If I write it in German, neither of them. In English, I guess I'll mostly use the first two options.

8. Roughly how many different systems have you played? What percentage of those would you play again?
Not many, perhaps five or ten, many just oneshots. I'd play most of them again, but right now I'm also on a quest to play some of the games on my shelf that haven't been played so far.

9. Anything else you want us to know about you?
Since I've joined a German forum (tanelorn.net - it's great!) in early 2011, I learned a lot about RPGs (at least compared to my knowledge before that). My RPGG account was created late last year, but I've become active only in September 2012. My first few weeks here have been great so far, thanks to nice admins and a cool community. thumbsup
On the downside, I shouldn't spend so much time here, and instead finish my PhD. blush Still, I'd like to see RPGG prosper and grow. I've joined the RPGG heroes guild already and have one or two "projects" in mind. Hopefully I'll find the time to further participate and help (while still finishing my PhD in time).

Oh, I got a question for you, too. ninja
