If you are one of these players, thanks! Please subscribe to this list. You may also want to add it to your quickbar at the top of the page. If you need assistance with either of these things, let us know.
I'm putting the rules and stuff together now. While we're waiting for that, let's get to know each other a little better. The rules-as-written state that the first player to choose an element will be the one who grew up in the smallest town. Reply below with whatever information you'd like to share and a ballpark figure of the population of the place where you grew up.

Re: Table #2
Hi, I'm Brian and I'll be facilitating this game. Normally, everyone involved in a Fiasco game is playing a role but, in order to get more people introduced to the RPG, I will stay outside the actual play. I'll help keep things moving and I'll answer any questions you've got. This thread will be for out-of-character (OOC) questions, chatter, and anything else that's not directly part of the main game. There will be some OOC information in the main game thread, too. I'll go over the conventions for that in a later post.
I grew up in a small town in Tennessee (pop. 8000) but since I'm not playing the game, that information does not count towards who goes first. I usually go first.
I've been roleplaying since 1982 and it's my favorite kind of game. I've been a member of BGG since 2009 and I really enjoy the community here. I posted infrequently on the Dominion forums as well as those of a few other games I'm into. Once the RPG side opened up, I got much more heavily involved since that's what the vast majority of my collection is.
I'm a technical writer at a software company in Nashville, TN. I've got a wife who is also a gamer and an 8-year-old son who can beat me pretty regularly at Take it Easy!.
Welcome aboard! How about you?

Re: Table #2
Born in a 13,000 person town but grew up in a 350,000 person city.
I don't really have any RPG experience (save for the last two big RPGG PBF ones). Really looking forward to getting familiar with Fiasco. I've heard a lot about it and am eager to try it out.

Re: Table #2
I was born in Washiington DC (600,000), I grew up in Richmond VA (200,000), and now I live in Amelia VA (13,000).
I have done some Star Trek PBEM, never with any system to speak of, it always focused more on writting. I have played a fair amount of DnD, and dabbled in a couple White Wolf systems, but never much past an initial sitting. I have never tried something like Fiasco though.
So maybe I have a bit more experience with rpgs then was asked for, but I have no experience with GM-less games, or systems that are as role-play dependent as this one seems to be. Most of the games I have been in seem to focus more on min/maxing and less on role playing. I am very curious how these types of rpgs do to tell a story rather then just beating the GM.
I am really looking forward to this game. Everyone have fun.

Re: Table #2
Born in Newport, Gwent - Wales. Don't have a clue how bit it was but now live in Leeds, England. (Population 798,800 in 2011 according to Wikipedia)
My gaming history is really around board games, my favourite types of game being "Traitory" type games, although whenever I play RPG type computer games, I can't help but be the good guy
In terms of my RPG history - very limited to 1 year of D&D back when I was 18, and pre then lots of Fighting Fantasy books!
Always something in the way of doing RPGs (i.e. Time and scared to learn a massive rule set) I thought this PBF looked a great way of doing it - so thanks Heard about Fiasco via a few podcasts and looks fun - would like to progress eventually / possibly to a Superhero type PBF...
However, my Son (3 1/2) and Daughter (9 weeks) probably will keep me away from doing non PBF roleplaying for a while - and prob my wife too!
Look forward to this a lot

Re: Table #2
I was born and raised in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio with about 17,000 people in it.
I'm very active in play-by-forum werewolf over at BGG and I even host a weekly podcast devoted to the subject. I've played some Dungeons and Dragons (both 3.5 and 4) but it's been a while since I've participated in any RPG's in person and I've never done so online.
I'm excited to give it a try!

The IC thread is up. Please subscribe to that one, too. I'll follow up here later with what we're going to do with each thread as well as the setup instructions and rules.

One more thing: Please ask questions.
I've been roleplaying for so long that the jargon and acronyms are firmly entrenched in my active vocabulary. If I throw out a term or a set of initials that makes no sense to you, ask for clarification. If there's a part of the rules I'm not clear about, let me know and I'll give you more detail.
Also, Fiasco is different from many other RPGs in several ways. If you have any questions about those differences or about roleplaying in general this thread is the place to ask.

I think most of us have little experience with RPGs so hopefully we can all pick up on it quick!

I've read the "intro" bit to it, and had a look at some other examples.
It seems that we "sit next to" people - just wandering how we are going to do that - not that I understand the rest of it too much

Good question. Once we determine the play order, I'll make a list of player names. The person above and below your name will be the ones with whom your character has relationships. You will also share one other story element with each of those characters.
This post from the first Toil and Trouble game is a good example. Ours will look something like that.

Beat this if you can! (2300 souls) I'm probably the youngest here as well. I've very little RPG experience (a session of DnD - no idea about the edition) but I used to roleplay a lot on MUDs (Multi User Dungeons - text environment where you explore, interact with PCs and NPCs, kill, cast spells and emoticons around and so on). My comprehension of English is good, my production is borderline decent. Please be clement I'm a Werewolf player here on BGG as well, and happened to listen to a couple of episodes of blue's podcast. I like reading, running, biking, gaming, playing music, and that's all, I guess.

"Presentation"
(Now waits to be crucified for any typos and mis-spellings (or hyphenations) of which there will be many...)

Cool! I used to play on a bunch of MUSHes. Up until pretty recently, in fact. I may get back into it someday.

Cool - have read the other thread (very informative and recommended ) - I'm ready to have the dice rolled even though I have no Idea what the "holy" white or "evil" black dice do....
Is it better to have them spread between people - or does it not really matter? (i.e. 1 white 1 black per event, or all the black grouped, then all the white grouped)

I looked over the other thread as well, you are correct it is very informative. I have also downloaded the playset, which also made much more sense after looking at that thread.

Here's the order of play. Let me know if you'd like to be referred to as something else.
Elia Bluelise Joseph Mateen Mike
This will represent the way you'd be sitting if we were at a table. Therefore, Mateen is to Mike's left and Mike is to Elia's left.
Unlike most RPGs, you don't have complete control over what kind of character you play. Part (or all) of your initial character concept may be decided by other players.
We'll do the setup phase in this thread then we'll move over to the IC thread when we start playing scenes.
There will be some OOC discussion over on the IC thread just to keep things flowing.
I'll get some introductory posts up soon but here's the overview of what we're doing. During setup, each of you will assign an element to a pair of characters. It can be a pair that you are a part of or it can be between two other people.
The elements are Relationships, Needs, Locations, and Objects.
There will be a relationship between each pair of characters. Each pair of characters will also have one other shared element.
I'll roll some dice in a follow-up post to help randomize and give some direction to the element choices.
Once all the elements are in place, you can discuss who your characters are and fill in a few more details about them.
Look over the playset to get an idea of the possibilities.

The ultimate use of the dice that are assigned to a character during scenes is to determine that character's outcome. A character who ends up with all of one color or the other is likely to have a better outcome than one who has equal numbers of each color. Of course, in this game, horrible outcomes can be the most fun for the player if not for the character.
The dice are also used to determine which two players roll for the Tilt which is a point exactly halfway through the game during which two new elements are introduced that make things even worse. For everyone.

Correct you are! We've at least two of each number left so anything is possible at this point.
Bluelise, you're up next. You can put a category between any two characters or you can put a detail on the Crime relationship between you and Elia. As a reminder, the next three will choose their elements in this order:
Joseph Mateen Mike
Then back to Elia.
The connections list looks like this:
Elia
1. Relationship: Crime - 2.
Bluelise
1. Relationship: 2.
Joseph 1. Relationship: 2.
Mateen
1. Relationship: 2.
Mike
1. Relationship: 2.
