Nodding to Merisel, Ezren crosses the room and pulls up a chair next to her.

Well, beyond the obvious problem we're all dealing with? As for what I need... a cure would be nice. Sure, business is booming right now but its not quite the kind of business I want."
The infirmary is a makeshift add-on to the local church where Kyra and others have been trying to heal the sick and care for the dying in their final hours. The Herbalist shop is more holistic remedies which many of the townsfolk believe helps - some of it may be psychological but certainly Laurel can at least provide them some comfort from the hacking cough with her concoctions. The other Clerics in town think what Laurel is doing is dishonest - selling what amounts to smoke and mirrors instead of something that will cure the people. As far as the religious sect goes, Kyra acts alone in coming to see Laurel.
I know I should be there, but I don't seem to be making any headway. I now the most the clerics think of you as a charlatan, but I've seen you make a real difference and nothing we have seen to have done has done anything other than slow the inevitable.
Anways, you sounded like you were on to something last night. Theres a few of us who are ready to help as we can, if you want to put your idea to test. If I can get the group together, can you get away long enough this evening to fill us in on the help you will need?

A weird concoction that sounds more like hoojoo than real medicine. But at this point I'm willing to try anything. I never recall my mother making this medicine so I can't vouch for it. Outside I let Valeros know that I want to seek out Lady Cirthana and that I will catch up with later if he doesn't want to come along. I figure shes probably at the church or infirmary and will start there. I'd like to compare notes with her on this plague.

I figure shes probably at the church or infirmary and will start there. I'd like to compare notes with her on this plague. She is at the Infirmary - trying to handle as many of the seriously ill as possible. In some cases she is saying prayers for those who are clearly terminally ill. She is ashamed of her fellow clerics who have shunned this duty to help. When you see her, she already looks drained. Her sleep pattern, like many here in town, has been poor at best.

Finding him isn't hard... as he spends most of his nights and more than a few days in the local watering hole. The Tavern of the Owlbear is usually busy - but especially so today as you enter and see Gruff, our intrepid Dwarf, holding court. He is boasting about how easy it will be to get this cure and get the town back up and running again.
"Ya see here ya pups, the thing about this, err, umm Blackscour is that you cant see it without magical aid, *burp*...that is unless you've grown up around it like us dwarves have, *burp*."

As a rogue you can assume that you have a few small concoctions already (you are, after all, a regular at Roots & Remedies). You mix up a little something that causes Gruff to feel a bit less stable and a bit more claustrophobic in the crowded tavern. However, we'll wait for Gruff to decide if and when he leaves the Tavern as I don't want to force a PC into action. I figured we might not here from Gruff until after the weekend; my intent to go to Laurel's was so that I could bump into the other PCs. But that's OK...I'll just stay put & see where this takes me!
"Mmmm this is some potent stout bar wench! Straight from the loins of a master brewer no doubt. *burp*" The last burp not settling the contents of his iron stomach Gruff decides to take a moment to cool off outside.
"Folks, I must break from my stories of fungus and get some air. Fear not...*burp*...I will soon be back...*burp*...err, later."

Okay, Gruff wobbly makes his way up from his soapbox and stumbles outside. Merisel and Ezren follow behind.
You three are outside. Inside, you can hear them giving three cheers to Gruff - The Champion of the People!

Making a perception check to see if I notice those following me outside
Gruff rolling perception to see if he notices the other PCs follow him outside 1d20+1 = (10) + 1 = 11
If Successful:"Hey there runts, what you be needing from old Gruff?"

Ezren looks back and forth between Gruff and Merisel, wondering what he has gotten himself into.
"If you are done with patting yourself on the back perhaps we could get down to business ?"
"I have heard of a local man that works for the Lumber Company, who is said to have a vast knowledge of the area we will be heading into. I suggest we find the rest of our little group and see what we can learn from this man. Any sign of Kyra or Valeros ?"
Ezren notices the Dwarf is leering at him with a confused look on his face.
"Gruff !, are you too drunk to remember me ? We just spoke the other night!"

Gertz previously rolled 1d20+1 = (10) + 1 = 11 (Gruff rolling perception to see if he notices the other PCs follow him outside) They don't seem to be overly stealthy so you do notice them and, obviously, they can respond (as Ezren has).
OOC: normally I use passive perception vs. stealth but in this case there doesn't seem to be any huge secrecy on their part.

Unfortunatally no. Shes tried everything she can just like we have. She does have one more idea but its a long shot. Valeros and I along with some people he met in town are goign to meet her tonight as she to find out what assistence she needs of us...but I don't know that it will work or not. But I'm all out of options here and don't know what else to try. I can't even figure out how to interest the other clerics in helping us. What do you think about this situation?

She ponders for a few seconds, "Long shot... that's about all we have left except to let the disease ride its course, take whom it will take and see who is left standing when it passes by. But I don't want to wait that long to find out who lives and who dies. I can say that based on the new cases and the progression of cases, it appears this malady goes from a slight cough to bed-ridden hacking in 3-4 days and if you manage to survive 8 or 9 days, you're likely going to pull through. What happens to the weaker in the between times is... well... you've seen it. If we can't find a cure, I'm guessing 50 or more deaths before it runs its course. Time, it seems, is of the essence."

AladdinSane wrote: While Kyra is helping out, I would like to explore the town to see if I overhear anything that may help us. Very good. Valeros spends the evening trying to find out as much as possible in and around town. Mostly you don't get much new on the disease front, but you do manage to pick up some information about the town itself which may or may not prove useful.
Falcon’s Hollow was built almost specifically as a frontier town and hugely tied into the rise of the Lumber Consortium. Most people in town work in some capacity for lumber trade - without which the town would not function. The population is about 1,400 of which 95% are human and the other common races make up the remainder.
There are several authority figures in town. Thuldrin Kreed is the Head of the Lumber Consortium though he does so in a very high-level capacity. Vamros Harg is a halfling aristocrat who is Magistrate-Elect. The local Sheriff is a half-elf named Deldrin Baleson. Finally, Boss Payden “Pay day” Teedum is the overboss of the Lumber Consortium and works day-to-day with the lumberjacks.

Coincidentally I think I may have lost a day in here since I don't remember previously talking to anyone. It may be because I am trying to catch up a bit after a busy week.
