Luckily only two players showed up to a scheduled Dresden Files One-Shot, so we had to come up with something else. As I bought Fiasco just the day before, we cave it a try. Naturally using the Hocus Focus playset!

We did spend quite some time setting the relationships and other stuff up (in retrospect we should have kept this tighter).

Setup

A pair of weekend witches (Leni Stahl and Lemmy K. Meister - played by marauders wife and myself) stumbled over an old manuscript that hinted them of a way to great power by manipulating people. And that would give them power and money and everything else... so they thought. Somehow there was the 3rd floor of a two story library involved.

Leni (Apothecary) had some shady deal running with Glenn Riborsky (played by marauder) who seemed to be some sort of information and drugs dealer. And e was in need of getting the harder stuff from Leni, because of his 'customers'.

Lemmy also knew Glenn. But this was long ago as Glenn did pinch his girlfriend as they where in high school.

Somehow a mysterious old skull covered with runes had also to be involved.

Act 1:

Glenn first played out his demand for the materials he needed to brew the harder stuff for his customers. But Leni declined because that would certainly would show up in the records.

Then we got into Lenis and Lemmys occult stuff. Leni seemed to possess some capability to connect to ghosts. And this was the way how they got the idea about this secret ritual the wanted to perform. The knew they had to find a mystical skull, which they will find in the 3rd story of a two story library.

After this Lemmys past with Glenn was played out, but did not really came back into the story later.

It became clear that Glenn would be able to provide the witches with the information they needed to find the skull. An office building which was a library and which had some underground stories (the undercity).

Tilt

marauder hat 2 black, 1 white resulting in a black 2, his wife one black, resulting in a black 6 and I had 2 white resulting in a white 7.

It was clear that the skull had to be Bob (You targeted Harry, you Idiots!) and that there will some fallout hitting Harry's office by dump luck.

Act 2

We got the information from Glenn about the skull, pointing us directly to Harry's Office. But we did not believe him and declined his payment. Glenn got angry, called up some thugs and chased us into the building. We stumbled into Harry's office, who then scared the thugs away... and we discovered Bob on his desk!

So we knew we had to wait and break into it, to steal the skull. As he left Lemmy started to fumble around with the lock using magic, which did set of a ward that destroyed parts of the office. But there was no skull! So we decided to track down Harry's apartment.

There was a weak try to mirror the lost girlfriend past into a flashback where Lemmy watched Leni and Glenn in some shady drug deal to up the tension between the boys. But as I mentioned before, that did not really help the story at that point.

Luckily some evil spirit provided us with a way to get around Harrys apartment wards, and we really where able to snatch Bob from the basement! He was in a good mood and promised to help us in our evil deed if we would free him from his skull prison.

In the middle of the ritual, set up in the undercity below the office, Harry showed up (tipped by Glenn and his thugs). Glenn right behind them.

Well... the ritual did go south at this point...

Aftermath

In the end Leni and Lemmy both got caught by Harry. As did had not yet manipulated people the white court did set them on probation. But personally their did loose their jobs because of the drugs and some damage done... by a big gas blast caused by Glenn shooting around in the undercity which did kill Glenn and badly burned Lemmy's face.

What should I say... don't try this in Harry's town...

Thoughts

It was a bit bumpy in the beginning, but we had good fun. I will certainly try this again, hopefully with one or two more people.
