I can't find any rules relating to how long and at what rate wounds heal. Do they exist, can you point me to them?

The best I can find is on page 34 of book 1 - it references unconscious characters in two paragraphs and says this about recovery:
Traveller Book 1: Characters wrote: A return to full strength requires medical attention (a medical kit and an individual with at least a medical-1 skill), or three days of rest.
Traveller Book 1: Characters wrote: Recovery is dependent on medical attention (a medical facility and an individual with medical-3 skill); Recuperation to full strength without medical attention is not possible.
The first is in reference to an example where a PC was hit and took 4 damage to STR (originally 8) and was knocked unconscious. When the PC regains consciousness it will have STR 6.
There is no healing, as we think of it in modern terms, in Classic Traveller - at least, not in the early books. I don't know about much later publications.
Edited for clarity.

In our case on board "Horizon", I'm not sure the advanced medical rules would help us. From an early Journal of the Travellers' Aid Society article by Marc W Miller I think they require a Medic or Surgeon of -3 or more skill, or a Docbot of high tech and skill to speed up healing.
Of course, you're the GM so maybe that is in the storage bay...

Found it: Medical Treatment In Traveller.
Light wounds (don't reduce any characteristic to 0) require attention from a medic-1 within 1D*10 minutes or it could get worse. In this case, roll 2D for 7+ to see if an additional 1D wound points are added. On a 12 exactly, it's a catastrophic trauma, and the character dies. Repeat the 2D roll every hour until the character receives medical attention or dies.
The same rules as above apply to Moderate wounds (1 characteristic reduced to 0) and the character is in shock and unconcious for about 10 minutes.
Severe wounds (2 characteristics reduced to 0) requires aid within 1D minutes to avoid death.
Treatment for full recovery:
Light wounds can be treated by a medic-2. Moderate wounds require a medic-3 (doctor). Severe wounds require a medic-3 with Dex 8+ (surgeon), assisted by a medic-2 and an anesthetist. Roll 2D for 6+ for a normal recovery. A 2 means death on the table. A 3, 4, or 5 means an impaired recovery. There's a bunch of DMs, too many to list here, mainly for tech level of care.
Recovery time: Moderate wounds, 2D days in hospital Severe wounds, 1D*10 days in hospital
After release from hospital, characteristics will be halfway between full value and wounded value.
In all 3 wound types, recovery is at 1 point per week for each of the 3 characteristics (Str, Dex, End).

Thanks for finding that article - I didn't have time to look it up in my JTAS issues. Now I can go right to it!

Thanks for the GG tip!
Article search here on the Geek is becoming really useful, as is owning a rather comprehensive Classic Traveller collection.

I too have used the article search, in recent weeks, while looking up some late 70s dragon articles I just knew were there, but couldn't remember what issue. Article search found them for me and then I could go right to my hard copy - it was way easier than searching through 3 years of Dragon. (especially because I wasn't sure which year it was - that 3 years worth search could have turned into a decades worth )
