You slide into the subway, squeezing between the shutting doors and the dinging lights. You look arround the carts. It was a busy day at the subway, like everyday, with most cars full of people.
This car is mysteriously empty except for a few others who seem as confused by the empty car as you do. You all get a good look at each other before going back to surepticiously ignoring each other. There are several free dailies laying arround that talk about the return of the venus probe and what a scientific catch of curiousities it will have for nasa.
The Car lurches forward into a slow forward movement, coasting above and below ground and before long a scratchy voice comes over the comes "We apologize for the delay, but due to an assault at the next station we will have to bypass it until the proper authorities have responded. "
You skip the station, watching the image like a real life zoetrope. You can see someone hunched over what must have been the victim. But they passed to fast to make out any detail. There was a lot of blood, they must have been giving first aid. You think about this as the familure clack clack of the subway lulls you towards your destination.
Who are you? What do you look like? Where are you going? What are you doing on the subway?
Your in Townville, It is close to 9 in the morning. The forcast is overcast with mist and rain slated to clear off later in the day. Your riding the subway.

Jack McGinnis was overweight enough to have a bit of a gut sticking out from his mid section. His old suit had gotten a stain on the left leg from when he stepped in a puddle of crud. His shoe was even more ruined than before. He hadn't shaved in 48 hours and his breath was sour. He could use a shower and a good sleep.
Jack's car had broken down again. He had been following a man who's wife was sure he was cheating on her. As it turned out the guy was hiring prostitutes. Jack had been able to acquire some photos and figured he wouldn't need much else. He was taking the train back to his office to process the photos. He hoped to get paid tonight. He sure could use the money.

Floyd Oakes, an older gentleman, well groomed, but dressed in his work uniform and canvas jacket.
It's time to go in for another days work. Messenger bag strapped across his chest and cane in hand he sits silently relying on his white hair to eschew any gibberish directed toward him.
Then the message across the intercom. Staring down at the dailies speaking under his breath,
"Oh good, more news for tomorrow. Will we ever learn."
If only retirement would come sooner... the trip into work causes Floyd more unease every morning.

You are roughly pulled towards the front of the train as the train unexpectedly slows. The grinding of the wheels on the tracks fades from your ears as eventually a complete stop is achieved.
There is a tense moment as the train passangers look arround at each other before you hear a muffled whistle. looking at each other for a moment. YOu brace yourselves at the last moment as another subway train plows into the end of your stationary train.
[ attack by train 1d12 = (12) = 12 vs toughness. Let me know if you take a wound, and narrate out an appropriate wound .
You stand up and look arround. All of you are battered but you guys are alive. Looking towards the end of the train you see only a twisted hunk of metal and wreckage. ``````````````````````````````````````````````````
You can stay put and await rescue.
You can try to escape threw the side of the tunnel, leaving the subway car and walking alongside the train.
You can try to escape threw the train, moving from car to car by the red doors on either end of a car.

Frustrated aggravation boils up within Jack as the train comes to a stop. 'What in the hell is causing the delay now?' he thinks to himself. He just wants to get back home and finish his day. He's tired and has little patience left.
The impact completely catches Jack by surprise. The train car he's in lurches violently throwing Jack aside. Jack tries to twist and grab a hand hold before he impacts anything...
Spend 1 Bennie to soak up wound - Vigor 1d6 = (1) = 1
Jack misses the grab and slams into the edge of some seats with a hard impact against his torso under his right arm. The wind is knocked out of him and he thinks he hears something crack inside him. He winds up on his back on the floor of the train car looking up at the ceiling of the train car.
He slowly stands up, and wavers getting to his feet. He checks the others to ensure no one has a serious injury. Aside from some overly dramatic woman who believes shes going to die from a bump on her head everyone seems to be OK.
Checking his surroundings, Jack decides it's best get off the train. God forbid another train pile into this wreck. He sees a side tunnel not too far off, and decides to make his way there.

Realizing far too late that sitting on the train with his messenger bag across his lap and his cane at his side was not the best way to prepare himself for the collision of the two trains.
His habit of sitting next to the door and the many restrictive bars that accompany such a seat was also unfortunate.
As the trains collided Oakes was thrown into the bar, catching it with his skull, and then twisting and landing on his back.
OOC: Spending 1 benny for soak: Vigor, I can't die already! 1d4 = (4) = 4
"Gahhhh!"
"I knew it was a bad day as soon as I saw the weather..."
Eventually making his way up off the floor and readjusting his bag Oakes follows the crowd off of the train to see what has happened.
As he and the crowd looks at the wreckage that has filled the tunnel he notices a man walking away from the group and down a side-tunnel.
Seeing no way through in the direction they came Oakes decides to follow this man who looks as though he has some idea of where he is going.

Reaching above the door and smashing the thin plexiglass covering the emergency release, you and a few other people shoulder the door open. Easing yourselves down with a minimum of wincing you look at your surroundings.
Towards the rear of the train is a solid wall of wreckage and carnage. The Two trains mushroomed together blocking all hope of escape or rescue that way. You hope that anyone caught in that meatgrinder is dead already because there's no way their getting rescued.
Up ahead the train lays jauntily on its tracks. You see the emergency lights, spaced out 50 paces or more on the outside wall. Their amber light leads after 100 paces to a small side tunnel marked by a single white light. You don't know where it leads but a official looking door gives you hope that first aid or maybe even a phone might be inside.
A few of the stragglers pull out their cellphones and try to get service. The aharmonic tones of no bars ring throughout the tunnel.
As you walk ahead a few other survivors are begining to totter off the train. The people from further ahead seem to be less hurt then you guys. Althought from much further up ahead you hear the wails or sobbing of a woman " We need to get help"
Taking one last stock of your situation before deciding on a coarse of action, you look arround.
--------------------------------------------------------
You are in the subway tunnel. There is a side tunnel up ahead that ends in a door. The sandwiched trains make escape or movement towards that end of the tunnel impossible. Up ahead you hear the faint wailing of someone "We need to get help" there's more general moaning and maybe another train echoing off the tunnel walls. You are unable to pinpoint an exact location for any of the sounds.

'Damn cheap phones.', Jack berates himself. He should have sprung for the premium service, he might have service down here. He puts his phone back in his pocket.
Jack grits his teeth. These type of emergencies always result in weak minded people panicking. The woman ahead crying for help grates on his nerve. 'We all need help woman, get a grip.' he thinks to himself. Jack hates having to deal with people who are emotionally unstable. He decides it would be best for him to try and call for help before he dealt with anyone.
Jack looks around and sees an older man standing behind him. The man has a gash on his head but he appears coherent. "Lets see if we can find help." he says flatly. Jack turns and makes his way to the side passage entrance in hopes of being able to reach Emergency Services.

Seeing the man's eyes focusing just above eye-level at the wound that's bleeding a good amount, "Yeah, it's tender, but I don't think anything's broken."
The man's suggestion to find help reminds him of what they saw earlier on the train.
"I'm sure if there was help to be found they are a station or two back where they are cleaning up whatever happened there."
Interrupting himself, "I'm sorry, my name's Oakes... pleased to meet you despite our circumstances."

You approach the side tunnel, surprised the find the door unlock and ever so slightly ajar, as if someone had absentmindedly forgot to lock the latch after themselves. Inside you find cinderblock construction and narrow hallways. Dim flourescent lights overhead, hanging by chains, provides all the light.
You enter the first room in the hallway, to the right. There is a squalid room full of half open lockers with technician overalls hanging. The smell is slight but revolting. It smells like dried blood and shit.
You see a red phone at the end of the small room. It is hanging off its hook, swinging back and forth by its red coiled cord. Picking up a few of the overalls on the floor you see the signs of aforementioned shit and blood, it looks like a dragmark from the phone to out of the room.
Looking briefly out of the hallway, you see the skid continues further down the hallway and past a corner, out of sight.
-------------------------------------------------------- You are in a small changing room for the subway. There is no one here but you. It is disorganized but several pairs of overalls are still hanging and more are laying on the floor. There is an emergency phone handing off the hook at the far end of the room.
Close to the door a red toolbox lays mostly undisturbed. A heavy wrench at least 2 foot long lays sticking half out of it.
The hallways continues further, until it takes a turn to the left at 90 degrees and out of sight.

Without looking back Jack says over his shoulder, "Yea whatever... I'm Jack."
_________________________________________________
Wrinkling his nose at the unpleasant smell in the room, Jack looks back to Oakes**. "Do me a favor and see if you can get anyone on this.", Jack says as he points to the phone. "I'm going to follow that." he indicates the smear trail going down the hall.
Jack places a hand on the grip of his gun, but does not draw it. All kinds of crazy homeless people live in the lesser used subway tunnels. Might be someone ran into one and a fight broke out. Jack didn't think it likely someone from the train wreck made it here, and then started bleeding and shitting themselves. Man this was brewing up to be a bad day.
Jack will crouch down and check the scene under the emergency phone before moving off.
** If Oakes didn't step into the room, Jack will poke his head out and direct him to use the red phone.

"Sure, holler if you find someone."
Oakes reaches into his back pocket and produces a handkerchief. He folds it over twice and picks up the phone using it as a sealant between him and any bodily fluids on the receiver.
Careful to not touch his head with the phone, "Hello... is there anyone there?"
-
-
Jack using his keen investigators eyes, looks arround the room before moving on and notices two things.
First a set of keys hiding amongst the overalls. It is a sturdy 2 inch key ring with maybe 20 keys on it and attached to a broken lanyard. None of the keyes are labeled.
Second, taking a closer look at the smear of blood and shit, you poke one place with a pen or other trusty tool. You are a little surprised as a fingernail, ripped clean from the hand, pops out of the gore. Whatever did this, it seems to be a bit bloodier then you would expect from a hobo fight.
Oaks gingerly working the phone, is surprised when it suddenly bursts to life and starts ringing. Answering the phones ringing, he hears a paniced young ladies voice on the other end.
~~~~~Station 13 Station 13 are you there, whats your status? We're missing trains all over the map, there's been almost a dozen assaults on the grounds and thats just the ones we've been able to contact. The News is saying something about a terrorist attack, whats going on down there. Station 13 are you there?~~~~~
Finally hearing someone on the other end of the line, "Miss, I'm really not sure what station this is... and I am not the manager, or guardian, or whoever it is you are looking for. There has been a collision between two trains here and as far as assaults... by the looks of the state we found this room in... I'd say there has been another."
Yelling in the direction of the doorway, "Jack, the woman on here is saying something about a terrorist attack, multiple assaults, and missing trains!"
Back on the phone, "Miss, there are multiple injured here, you're going to have to send for help, this tunnel is completely blocked just pass the intersection."
-
-
The other end of the phone goes silent for a moment and you think maybe it has disconnected until you hear a late "Shit" come from the other end.
~~~~~I'll try to scramble aid Station 13 but its a goddamn madhouse up here. I have no ETA, Do what you can. You said your not employees?~~~~~
Another long wait until another solitary "Shit" comes threw.
~~~~~Um further up the hallway you'll find the emergency kit. Just go up and take a left, there should be no other exits actually. There should be first aid there, hold tight, we're gonna [Hissing static] ..ry to ge ..[Hissing static]... p what in the name of jesus h chr...[Hissing static folloed by silence, except for an occassional sound of gulping or gurgling and maybe liquids hitting the floor or being dropped]...~~~~~
Jack absentmindedly places the keys in his pocket while examining the rest of the scene. The fingernail gets his mind racing. 'Holy, WTF? Did I just stumble across some serial killer's hideout?' He shakes his head. No there has to be a simpler explanation. Then Oakes speaks...
Krak3n wrote: "Jack, the woman on here is saying something about a terrorist attack, multiple assaults, and missing trains!" Jack's mind begins racing again, 'This is Townville not New York. What the hell could terrorists want with... crashes, attacks something's definately not right. Jesus, there has to be at least one perp down here with us.' Roland focuses on the situation. "Oakes. Go outside and see if you can find an able bodied person to help. I think we might have a fight on our hands. Don't leave me stranded!" The last part was said with a little base in Roland's voice.
Roland then peers out into the hall to check for possible threats.
After hearing the horrid noises through the receiver, Oakes pulls the phone away from his head, then brings it back again.
"Hello... Hello... are you still there? Is everything alright?"
Slowly placing the phone back on it's cradle, "Jack, this is no isolated event... and I believe whoever I was speaking to is now dead."
Turning around to look at Jack, "There is no way either of us should go anywhere alone at this point, not without having a better idea of what is going on..."
Looking back towards the phone, "The young woman on the phone... she said something about an emergency kit just down the hall and to the left. I think we should head that way."
Taking a step toward the hall the lack of traction on the floor due to the mess of gore reminds him of Jack's recommendation of further aid.
"You're right, let's both go back out there and find some help..." Oakes drops the handkercheif on the floor. "I don't think any is coming."
Already Jack's patience is almost burned completely away. Oakes' refusal to follow instruction brings Jack's frustration to a boil. "Look there are people right out there. We aren't alone. I'll wait here." Jack pulls his gun and hefts it up so Oakes can see it, though it is pointed at the ceiling. "I'm armed, and I'm not new to dealing with dangerous people. But I'm not comfortable being backed up by an old man with a limp. Just grab any guy out there that looks like he can throw a punch if needed." Jack grabs the large wrench from the toolbox with his other hand and holds it out for Oakes. "Here, take this and use it on anyone who looks like they might be dangerous if your worried."
Seeing anger rise up in the man, Oakes takes the wrench from him. Keeping his distance using the perimeter of the room he makes his way toward the door. Though disgusted at the man's demeanor, an armed comrade brings some comfort given the circumstances.
"I'll see what I can do."
Stepping out into the hallway, he begins his journey back toward the scene of the accident to recruit someone willing to "throw a punch".
-
-
returning out to the wreckage, Oakes is surprised to find the wounded who before were so noisy to now be so quite. All the survivors in the immediate vicinity appear to have pooled their resources, with the most injured huddling in the middle while the more able stood on watch on the outside.
A few of them have flashlights and were cautiously beginning to scan the surrounding tunnels nervously.
They spot you quickly and a few intercept you, giving you a thorough lookover before allowing you to get too close. They then relent and rush you into camp.
Nobody says anything but the atmosphere of raw nerves and open wounds hangs heavy in the air. The group is rather palpably being held together by a young black man, who is alternating between applying first aid and organizing people to keep a watch. The Young Man is wearing a red shirt and is applying first aid in a competant fashion althought it is clear that he is not a doctor or medic or anything.
After taking a moment to notice floyd, he comes up to him "Hey man, whats your name, you hurt?"
As Oakes investigates outside, Jack continues staring down the hallway.
You hear a few questionable noises, sounding like dragging or shuffling of some kind. Occassionally you hear a few sounds that almost sound like laughter , a girl laughing.
Your girl maybe? the thought springs up demonically.
`````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
The train people are gathering together inexplicably , including moving injured people, something your sure that the young man who is organizing it should know better then. You are fenced in by the train on one side and the tunnel on the other. Behind you is the car you began in and the side passage to where jack is.
Jack is in the hallway, listening. You can hear occassional sounds, that mostly sound like dragging or shuffling. Occassionally you swear you hear a girls laughter.

Jack knows Oakes may take more time finding someone than he'd like, but there was little choice. Jack does not like the idea of putting his back to a possible crazy man.
The sounds down the hall strum Jack's frayed nerves. 'Just come out and face me already if you're going to! This mind game crap's for cowards!' he thinks to himself. The sound of a girl's laughter startles Jack. He's always considered himself to be very level headed. Even with his past trauma, he had always assumed psychological breaks were the excuses of people who couldn't cope with not having everything catered to them. Yet, he couldn't possibly be hearing girl's laughter. If he was hearing it, it had to be in his head.
Jack didn't want to give away any element of surprise he might have, But he was tempted to shout at the terrorist/killer. 'What's taking Oakes?' he thought, even though it had only been a minute or two.

Still taking in everything that he's just encountered, "Oh... I'm Floyd, I took a bit of a spill during the collision, but other than that I'm ok."
Oakes remembers his wound and touches the blood matting his scalp, "I know it looks bad, but I'll be ok."
Seeing the passengers moving the wounded, "You know the wounded really shouldn't be moved if they've taken any kind of spinal, neck, or head trauma."
Remembering his task, "I can see you are trying to organize things as much as possible here... until emergency services arrive this is about all we can do. I don't know exactly what's going on, but another passenger and I have made our way down a tunnel and found... well, something has happened there too. We are going to need a little more security as we scout ahead to find help."
Looking around at the many passengers, "Look, I don't have time for alot of questions, Jack is still back there, I need to get back, If you've met someone with that kind of background, law enforcement or military training preferred... but I need them to come with me now."
-
-
The young black man lookes at floyd with some puzzlement, "what are you doing back there" before returning to the other question.
Yeah I know about the wounded, but there was something dragging people off anyway. Had to move them.
From behind the young man, several people murmur their agreement.
When floyd asks for backup the blackman grabs him by the shoulder and leads him a little bit away. Before lighting into him in a low voice.
"you don't have time for questions, you'll damnwell make time. I got some kind of psychopath out there, dragging injured people to god knows where to do god knows what. I ain't sending some people out with you just cause you think so."
As the young man gets agitated a thick ghetto accent comes into his voice until he calms himself and regains control. "Why don't you come, we have some first aid kits, we can clean that wound at least. I'm premed if that makes any difference to you."
Returning to the camp, you see everyone looking diligently to this young black man. You don't think anybody will leave without his say so.

Speaking to the young man as respectfully as he can while at the same time stressing the urgency.
"This is not what I would want to hear from someone either, and your story of something dragging people off matches with what we have found. I would have mentioned this sooner, but I did not want to cause anyone to panic."
Speaking a bit quieter, "Knowing this, you understand why I don't have time for treating my wound or waiting around. I was not trying to play your elder and demand respect for no reason. Jack is still back there and I was sent for muscle. Whatever has been dragging people off is there with him."
Looking around at all the people once again, "If there is no one here that can be spared I understand, but I do ask earnestly."

Jack continues to wait. He thumbs off the safety on his gun, due to the sounds. Even though Oakes has only been gone for a short time, time has warped in Jack's mind and it feels like he's been gone for 10 minutes. If he doesn't hear from him soon, Jack will have to check on him.
