to play a single Player "Elite" version of Mongoose Traveller. The term "Elite" is his term referring to this thread; http://rpggeek.com/thread/638246/mongoose-traveller-elite-1p
As such he will be the only Player.
Setting: Mongoose Traveller Spinward Marches using the The Spinward Marches. Action begins in the Glisten Subsector on the subsector Capital of Glisten.
The main character is Dieter Lumper.
Dieter has recently arrived on Glisten(0406) after travelling across the Spinward Marches. He has recently used contacts developed in his travels to enter into a business arrangement. A Broker by the name of Ptosha Jernigan recently became the owner of an old Seeker class mining ship, The Amethyst Fire when she had to repossess it from the estate of a dead business associate. Ptosha doesn't have any skills to crew or pilot a ship so she has hired Dieter Lumper to pilot it. The Amethyst Fire doesn't have any of it's orignal mining probes or equipment, although it still has its orignal drone launch/recover bay(OOC Stock Seeker Class Ship without the Mining Drones) which frees up 10 d-tons of cargo space. Ptosha added a database of general knowledge of the Spinward Marches(ooc: equivalent to The Spinward Marches ) and an Expert: Astrogation program to assist in navigation(ooc: Astrogation-1).
Ptosha has offered to Lumper the deal that if he would crew the Fire on runs that she sets up, then he can use the lower cargo hold's 10 d-tons for his own use. Dieter will be responsible for the Monthly Maintenance and all Docking/Berthing Fees. Ptosha keeps the profits from the main hold and Dieter can keep his profits(minus maintenace/lifesuport and fees) for his own use. She has also mentioned that she'd be willing to sell the ship to him at standard rates if he wants it. This deal gets the ship out of her hair and making some profits and Dieter a job that he can use to make what he can out of it.

Lumper was not destined for grand feats. Being the fourth son of a Baron, he knew from day one that his life would be one of comfort, but always overshadowed by his elder brothers and sisters.
To compound to his problems, his family is in the rather prosperous brokerage and shipping industry in the planet Aramis. As part of the family's desire to increase ties in the Empire, Lumper was chosen to enrol in the Imperial navy, and become part of the 214th fleet, patrolling the Aramis sector.
His life of dulling enjoyment ended the day he joined the Navy. Not having any relevant skills of use, he got a placement as general crew in a diplomatic ship. This actually played to his best skills, as his superior manners were quickly noted and put to good use in diplomatic missions. Still bored, but under family pressure, he took a second term with the Navy, showing amazing and previously unknown skills, in performing advanced recon missions as part of diplomatic missions. So much in fact that he got commissioned. Despite this, his family concluded that one of his much more promising elder brothers was more suited for the Navy role, and brought Dieter home, to work in the family business.
This opened an entirely new chapter in his life, as working as an agent for his father's corporation brought him into contact with a shady world he did not known, and for which he was not prepared. After being approached by a notorious criminal, refusing to comply with its desires, Dieter was left for dead by them. But that was not to be his end. Rescued by miracle, but with his body scarred for life, his family, not trusting entirely that Dieter was not on the pay book of criminals, forced him to go underground and depart to make a living on his own away from the family business.

Sorry, missed it before. Gunner skill has the specialties of;
Turrets Ortillery Screens Captial Weapons
So, you can just pick one of those. No need to get so detailed/picky on weapon systems. I think that from what you have written, you just need to take "Gunner:Turret"

Dieter Lumper is at the docking port for main asteroid city of Glisten. The Amethyst Fire has just been loaded with twenty-three tons of sealed freight bound to Windsor for Ptosha Jernigan and the 10ton cargo bay is empty. There are several other brokers and many different cargoes to purchase for speculative trade or accept a regular freight bound for Windsor.
Speculative Trade has the chance for greater profits but must be purchased outright out of funds from Lumper's own cash. Regular Freight is safer and Lumper won't have to spend any of his own cash but pays a lower rate.
Lumper also has a spare stateroom that he can use to take 1 Middle Passage passenger, which will earn 6,000 credits. Dieter has heard that there was someone asking around about passage to Windsor in the passenger terminal.
If Lumper is interested there is a 10ton freight shipment bound for Windsor that he could take. It pays 12,000 credits.
Or Lumper could take a chance on seeing what cargoes are out there for purchase in the Speculative Trade market.
What do you want to do?

Lumper finally sat down in the Captain's chair. Not that there were many of them in this ship. His shiny new ship. actually, the ship was not shiny either. But, for all purposes, he was is own Captain, and for the first time in his life, he would be dictating the rules, not someone else. As the console blipped he mind came back to where he was. His regular cargo had been loaded.
Lumper flicked through his console to see what he could with his share of the hold. The options passed quickly through his screen. Passengers? Cargo? Both?... Passengers could mean trouble, but then again, so could cargo, and he did need the credits. So why not both?... It did not take him a lot of time to find what he wanted. A passenger, and a cargo load, both wanting to go to his destination. He decided to contact the passenger, and to sign himself for taking the cargo...
OOC - Passenger and 10ton freight please!

Ptosha called on the Comm, "Yo! Lumper, you going to take this other bundle of Freight? There's also a passenger who has heard you are going to Windsor. They are both heading your way, open your lower hold and your main hatch. One will board and the other will be loaded by the loading robots."
The cargo is loaded and the Passenger boards and finds his stateroom and comes forward and introduces himself, "Hi, I'm Jo Erstin, I guess I'm your passenger to Windsor. If it's alright with you, I'm tired and I'm going to go rack out." Erstin is a Human of medium build and complexion, a very generic specimen except for an old burn scar on the left side of his face. He moves like he has spent a lot of time in ships and is easy going.
The ship's computer beeps and upon checking it Lumper finds a notice of payment upon delivery of the freight box and passenger at Windsor along with the electronic data forms showing official transport authorization.
All freight and the passenger are loaded, Lumper can make any other arrangements or go ahead and take off by making a Routine Pilot check (+2DM) to take off safely.
OOC: I am running skill checks as per the Core Rule book, please review and ask questions about the Skill System if needed
It is just over 2 day journey to the Jump limit. To make a Jump you will need to make the following skill checks;
1) Astrogation: Easy(+4) Education Based Astrogation skill check (this takes 10-60 minutes)
2) Divert Power: Average(+0) Education based Engineer(Jump Drive) (Takes 10-60 seconds). The Effects of this roll modify the Jump Results
Edit: Diverting Power for a Jump normally only takes 10-60 Seconds
Then we'll roll the actual Jump after these checks.

Lumper greets Jo as soon as he steps foot on the ship 'Welcome aboard. You're a passenger, so, you're entitled to your rest, I would not expect you to work to pay for your journey!...' Lumper says with a chuckle.
Lumper then goes and sits in his chair.'The Captains chair...'. he smiles briefly, rubs his hands and says more to himself than to anyone in particular 'Right, let's get this truck moving.', after going through the formalities he finds himself in space, sets his course, and presses a button...

The Amethyst Fire takes off in an efficient and professional manner, maneuvers free of the Asteroid based city of Glisten and heads for the 100 Diameter distant jump limit. On the way to the Jump Point;
Encounter Check 1d6 = (4) = 4
The journey out to the jump limit is uneventful and Jo pretty much stays in his stateroom, only coming out for meals. He is a quite fellow, Lumper gets the sense that Jo is used to travelling alone aboard ships and is very experienced at it.
Two days after take off the navigation computer beeps a warning, announcing that the ship has reached the Hundred Diameter limit. Lumper easily plots the jump and even surprises himself when diverting power to the Jump Drive. At that Jo mentions that it was the cleanest power operation that he had ever seen, which is pretty good since engineering is one area that Lumper has very little experience and training in(you had a -3 DM since you don't have Engineering but a Nat12 means auto success).
There is a sudden wrenching feeling as if different parts of the ship and Lumper's body are pulled in different directions, for a brief nano-second and then the Ship is in a Jump bubble. Time passes slowly for the week that it takes to transit Jump space and eventually the Jump bubble collapses at the approximate time.
OOC: Every Jump takes one week of time. If there is anything special that you want to do for that week's time, just say so
Lumper is on the bridge ready for the transition back to normal space to see: Jump! 2d6 = (4 + 2) = 6 Encounter check 1d6 = (6) = 6

The ship arrives in the Windsor system right on the caculated Jump point(or close enough that it doesn't matter). Jo remarks, "Nicely done. I'll be in my room" as he goes back to his stateroom.
The journey to orbit of the destination world takes just under 45 hours, 1d6 = (1) = 1 1d6 = (6) = 6 1d6 = (4) = 4
Lumper needs to make a Sensor's Check(Int or Edu, your choic) with a +4DM.

Lumper felt proud of his flight skills. It was always promising that the first ride was so smooth, and most of all, that his first passenger was obviously happy with the service he got. He started the last procedures to dock his ship...

On the way into orbit a large Cargo Ship passes by, Lumper saw its IFF Beacon on the sensors in time to avoid it.
Upon reaching orbit the local traffic controller directs the Amethyst Fire to the correct dock on the Highport. Windsor only has a Class "C" Starport but it has a small Imperial Highport. The planet is actually the moon of the system's gas giant, Vintii, which itself orbits a K9 Star. Vintii is almost bright enough to be classed as a brown dwarf, as such it emits enough heat to warm Windsor to a hot climate and the planet has a dense atmosphere. The Ling-Standard Products company owns Windsor and mines the resources for raw materials that are used in their shipyards at Glisten.
Lumper maneuvers for docking. Make a Pilot Check(Int based) with a +2DM
After docking(if successful), Lumper can check in at the Port Operations/Customs Office and then arrange for delivery of his freight. Jo thanks Lumper for the ride, and uses the computer to arrange electronic transfer of the cr6,000 Passenger fee.
It takes a couple of days to go through the entire process of unloading, process through the customs bureaucracy and arrange payment. At the end of it Lumper is paid cr12,000 for his delivery of the extra 10tons of freight.
Lumper then gets a message that Ptosha's brokerage firm will have another freight shipment ready in the next couple of days.
Port fees(Docking, Life Support, Mainteance, and unrefined fuel) come to cr5,300, so that means that Lumper profits cr12,700. The fuel can refined by the ship's fuel processors.
Upon reflection Lumper realizes that he was lucky on that jump and performing the functions of both the Pilot and the Engineer on a ship is pretty difficult. On a small ship, such as the Fire, it is possible, but still more difficult than having a person in each position. Talking to other crewmen around the port over the next few days he gets the advice that sometimes, when flying solo, it's better to take more time to when doing various important tasks.
OOC: there are rules in the main book for taking more time to do a task. There are also rules that I will be using for trying to do multiple things at the same time. Filling the role of Pilot and Engineer means negative DMs to your tasks when it counts, such as performing a Jump. I didn't enforce it last time because you rolled a Nat12 on your Engineering roll. I'll be more explict in the exact -DMs that you'll get on the next trip.
The next trip will be to Caledonia(0504), scuttlebutt in the local dive is that it is a, poor, low-tech world with an oppressive government (UPP:C541636-5 Ni, Lt, Po). Lumper can accept an additional load of freight in his cargo hold or he can purchase goods for speculative trade. You have 2 or 3 days to find a cargo, get loaded and depart on schedule. What do you want to do?

After going through the formalities, Lumper was quite enjoying the journey thus far. Despite the huge turn of fortunes his life had in recent times, he still felt that he could be doing far worst after being ousted from home. This trip to this system was bringing in him some memories from the past. he remembered coming to Mithras on a navy ship to unload prisoners. Not a chance he would go anywhere near that world now.
After thanking Jo for his custom and reminding him to get in touch should he need more transportation, Lumper got to the business of dealing with Pthosha's message. More freight, this time to Caledonia. It did not seem a promising place to go. But then again, these worlds sometimes did provide great business opportunities. Lumper went out of the ship, and tried to find a neighbouring pilot that could offer some advice on any good trade tips for Caledonia...

The easy thing to find out is that there are two Freight shipments, each 5 tons, that are bound for Caledonia that he could take at the usual rates(cr12,000 for both) if he doesn't want to go into Speculative Trade.
Lumper cruises the Highport bars looking for information on Caledonia. After several hours of buying drinks and talking to those that are willing to listen...

You succeeded even though you didn't added in your +1 from your Soc.
Lumper successfully spent time finding new drinking friends, and most importantly they had info on Calendonia.
One Free Trader Captain related, "They's kinda backwards there in Calendonia, barely pre-industrial. Story is that it wasn't long ago they were even lower tech. Since the Imperials setup a spaceport Calendonians have started worshiping High Technology and the whole place is run by their weird church. The spaceport is decorated on the outside like a religious temple. There's two sections of the 'port, the Imperial side and the groundlubbers' temple. You're alright if you stay on the Imperial side. Standard stuff an' Imperial laws and all. If you cross over to the Yokel Temple part then you are under local jurisdiction. High Tech among the masses is outlawed, only the Priests are allowed to use it and then only at certain times. Be careful. Then he goes into a long winded story detailing some of the recent things that they've sold there."
According to your source: Trade Goods to avoid taking to Caledonia; Anything TL9 or higher, don't sell anything higher than TL5 to anyone outside of the Priest class, Radioactives, Pharmaceuticals.
Trade Goods that have recently done well; Basic Machine Parts and Spices.
"Now, I've heard rumors," He continues, "but don't take this as good advice, but I've heard tales that there is some kind of 'select individuals' there that are willing to purchase high tech items, even advanced weapons but you have to be careful. Even though it's not against Imperial Law, if you are caught the locals have the Death Penalty still on their books for dealing in 'Unholy Items', if you know what I mean..."
Take a look at the Trade Items in the mainbook, page 165, for what you might want to purchase and I'll tell you what you need to roll for the purchase price/availability.

Lumper returned to the 'Amethyst Fire' with a lot to think about, even though his decision was an easy one. He was not very keen on getting entangled with Imperial law, further to the issues he already hat at home. Not at this point anyway, things might change in the future. He gave a brief thought on how could this ship be turned into a smuggler ship. Maybe something for latter. In this instance though, he carefully went through the lists of prices. Machine parts seemed a tad too expensive, so he decided to try spices and see what he could find...

Ptosha Jernigan's Brokerage acts as your broker for free since you are running her ship as part of your deal with her.

What's available:
Polymers 3d6 = (5 + 3 + 2) = 10 cr10,000/ton but maybe not the best to take to Calenonia
Live Animals 3d6+1 = (3 + 3 + 5) + 1 = 12 9,000/ton. This would be fine to sell there.
Biochemicals 3d6+1 = (2 + 4 + 1) + 1 = 8 550,000/ton. Probably out of Lumper's price range.
Cybernetics 3d6+1 = (6 + 2 + 4) + 1 = 13 212,000/ton. Again, probably out of Lumper's budget
There are also some Spices at 3d6+1 = (2 + 5 + 4) + 1 = 12 5,400/ton.
You have to purchase anything by the Ton and there is at least 10 tons of each available. There are also still 2 standard Freight boxes of 5 tons each that will earn you cr6,000 to deliver.

Lumper takes a good look at his different cargo options. He can't avoid to think that if money was available, he could do some proper returns in the investment. 'Maybe I need to think about getting a friendly financier... and perhaps Caledonia is the place...'
After a sigh following a look at his credit balance and the prices of the merchandise, he puts an order for 2 tons of spices...

Then after you take off you fly to the Jump limit, while you are flying roll a Sensors(Int based) +4 DM.

Lumper loaded his spice cargo. once it was finished, he took the time to take a stroll and look at it. This would potentially be his first valuable cargo.

The ship takes off with an ease that seems like the pilot is a natural. Lumper flies for about a day and a half toward the Jump limit when he notices a ship ahead coming toward him from the Jump limit. Right after that the communications system PINGs with an incoming transmission from it. When Lumper activates the Comm he hears, "ATTENTION, This is Police Corvette Hamilton maintain your course and prepare for docking for customs inspection. Deviate from your current course and we WILL open fire. Acknowledge!"
The corvette maneuvers for docking. If you are going to comply you don't have to do anything but maintain course and they will do all the hard work of docking. Also let me know if you are doing to prepare for inspection.
