On the Burning Wheel website, I read a report that someone had picked up a copy of the boxed set at Gen Con. A bit of web searching found this article:

http://www.gamesalute.com/?p=17277

Most exciting is this news from the article:

Quote:
In addition to this exciting new release, Diamond Comics announced that new RPG supplements will be released between each core Mouse Guard comics release. The next core Mouse Guard comic, Black Axe, is expected in Spring 2012, so new supplements should be out by Gen Con next year!

And the latest from Luke Crane (as of 10:07 AM on August 10, 2011):

Quote:
There's just no exact time to be given. It'll be out soon.

from http://www.burningwheel.org/forum/showthread.php?9924-Boxed-...

Sigh. I want this yesterday!

I picked up the box at Gen Con. It is very nice. Pricey, but very slick.

I just wish there was a place to pre-order this, like officially, since I heard the production would be limited and would be based on pre-orders. I pre-ordered at amazon.com, even though I dislike them, out of desperation.

Seriously, I've been waiting for a place to pre-order for a long time. I've saved and spent the money, earmarked for this game, a couple times over in that time.

I had preorders placed at two different times but ended up having to cancel both. I'm sure I'll pick up the boxset at some point but it may have to wait until I find it at a store since I'm tired of waiting to see if it comes up on Amazon. I doubt the production run is based on the preorder numbers since there was no formal preorder done but rather it just popped up on Amazon last year and people started ordering it ahead of time.

Perhaps I assumed incorrectly that there would be a preorder period through BWHQ.

I'm jealous! I remember when this was announced as being for Christmas 2010. I pre-ordered it in October 2010. Now I'll be happy if I see it by Christmas 2011.

Yes, this really is what I looked like when I uploaded that avatar. Not that it's quite current anymore.

Luke only does the writing (apparently as a paid contractor), not the marketing and selling. Technically, it's an ASP product, not a BWHQ one. Tho' BWHQ does actively support it.

I got my boxed set at Game Depot in Tempe AZ today. I have to say it's really cool. Lots of custom dice, cards, GM shield, GM sheets, Character sheets, Map, extra rules and adventure seeds, and the pawns which are big and heavy and look just like the ones in the comic. In a word AWESOME.

Was it on the shelf? I was just there on Tuesday, 16 August, and saw the first edition book (with the dust jacket) in the section with the rest of the Luke Crane works, but not the boxed set.

Amazon's availability dates are pure bovine excrement. Pay them no mind, unless guilible enough to have preordered through them. Even then, they keep them several months out until they have stock in hand. They're meaningless.

I've preordered it from Amazon.co.uk (which lists a release date of Sept 13th) just to see what happens... my guess is that the delivery date keeps getting pushed back.

My copy from Noble Knight games arrived yesterday. The box set is everything and more than I had originally hoped for. The dice are awesome. The Pawns aren't too bad, at least better than I thought. Still...I think I am going to get a Mousling Boxed Set from Reaper Miniatures. They'd just fit in perfectly.

Yeah, the Mouslings are very cool - not really useful for the game (since there's zero need for minis) but they're certainly cool as inspiration. Another cool possibility is to paint them to look like they're carved wood and then use them as a prop in the game.

My copy is on it's way since yesterday. Ordered from amazon.de.That would make a nice weekend. Also 2 RPG sessions are planned for Friday and Saturday, maybe I can convince one of the groups to try MG next time.
