WFRP 2

I recently saw the WFRP 2 adventures "Terror in Talabheim", "Ashes of Middenheim" at a very good price at my local used bookstore. However, I had heard in the past that some of the WFRP 2 adventures published by Green Ronin were not very good. Anyone have an opinion on the two adventures listed above? Were there some good adventures published for WFRP2? If so, what were they?

Thanks,

-Steve

"The Oldenhaller Contract"was converted from 1e to 2e and available as a pdf.

I'm not sure if that is what you mean ... but I think it is the best 2e adventure I've seen.

ASL ... yes, this is my Desert Island Game. If I have to give up all my 3000+ games and only allowed to keep one, this would be it. This bloody game stood the test of time. Around for more than 25 years - simply the best.

From the official ones we played through the whole Path of the Damned campaign. It needs a little twist here and there, but it was a great experience for all members of my group as well as for me (GM).

I've read Terror in Talabheim and think it's a good story - I've plan to do this in the future.

Although, if you can get your hands on 1st Ed's The Enemy Within, I would strongly recommend this one. You can convert the stats on the fly and it was the best campaign I've played and GM'd.

Edit:
In case that this isn't clear: The Path of the Damned Campaign consists of the introductory adventure in the rulebook and the three books "Ashes of Middenheim", "Spires of Altdorf" and "Forges of Nuln".

You might want to have a look at this Geeklist: A complete list of official WFRP2 adventures

The ratings seem pretty lukewarm; Barony of the Damned gets the best marks. There's a very positive review here. Terror in Talabheim also gets nice marks; I own it, but I've never really looked at it.

When I was researching WFRP2, I found some fan-made adventures that I thought were pretty promising... but I neglected to keep a list of the ones that I liked. soblue

Warning as Ron mentioned: Ashes of Middenheim is part of a bigger adventure. And the last book is very hard to find at a decent price.

My group is currently playing Terror in Talabheim (see the session reports). I like it a lot. Yes, it might look a little fast and some parts could be expanded a lot. But it's a great adventure.

I'm not sure where the bad vibe / rating for WFRP adventure is coming from. To me most of it looks like nostalgia for the enemy within, and "all that's released afterward isn't worth running". Most of the published stuff is good. The only ones I wouldn't recommend are Karak Azgal and Lure of the Liche Lord. The others are all good, though some might need some work in places (e.g. The Thousand Thrones). If you want to run a small-ish adventure (say 5 sessions), go with Terror in Talabheim or Barony of the Damned.

I thought Terror in Talabheim was brilliant, it's my favourite of the 2nd Ed adventures.

I also really enjoyed Ashes of Middenheim but like others said, that's only part 1 of a bigger campaign. Having said that, I seem to remember the three episodes of the campaign weren't that well tied together and you could probably run Ashes of Middenheim as a stand alone adventure fairly easily.

I was looking for any 2e adventure. A conversion from 1e definitely works. Thanks for the tip.

Yep, I own the 'Enemy Within' bound book they came out with back in the day. Agree with you, it's good stuff. I enjoy just reading the adventure!
