So you like Pathfinder RPG but want more?
Most gamers are never satisfied. Is it not enough that Pathfinder is one of the best D20 versions around? Is it not enough that your massive back catalogue of Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 material can still be used pretty effortlessly with Pathfinder RPG? No? So what do you want? More character classes to choose from, okay. But you also want to expand on the existing character classes. Variety, variety, variety. But you want more than base characters, you want Prestige classes too. With magic, lots of magic and lots of new spells. And lots of new magic items too.
Okay that’s a lot. But you want MORE? Okay, how about more equipment and lots of magical items? How about lots of new Feats and some new rules too?
But it’s also got to look good. It has to be well presented, tidy and have great full colour artwork throughout.
Well all of that is usually too much to ask. Amazingly Paizo have done just that with the Pathfinder Advanced Players Guide. I do like the Pathfinder RPG, it is a wonderful continuation of Dungeons of Dragons for those that don’t want to move to D&D4. And this book is one brilliant addition not just to Pathfinder but to role-playing. This book shows how it should be done. There are so many options available to players now, but not too many to put you off reading them all.
I wasn’t sure if this really was going to be a book for me. While I wanted to support the Pathfinder products I am not usually one for straying far from the core rules either as Player or GM. But I have to say that Pathfinder just moved up my list of games to play because of this book. I was going to do a list of good points and bad. But I cannot really find anything I would see as a bad point about this book; well it’s a bit pricey, although not really when you look at the content and quality. It is an excellent purchase and an important addition to the library of any Pathfinder player. Highly recommend.
