It's a New Zealand red wine from Hawke's Bay.

I don't know where it originated, but for the longest time only people from North Carolina seemed to know what the heck Sun Drop was. Actually, I've met people from all over, and only those from North Carolina had ever heard of it.
But, once you got them hooked, they couldn't get away! Muhuhahahaha!!!!

Actually, the only reason I've heard of it is that my husband always said that it originated in the small town in Tennessee where he grew up (middle of nowhere). I showed him your post, and he said you were WRONG!!
Then I checked Wikipedia. Turns out you both were. 
Anyway. I just finished a Jones cola. Why does it taste fruity? I miss my Blue Sky cola.
