Partly because I'm enjoying thinking about this game so much, I want to talk about it in more places, hopefully to see what people are doing and to raise visibility of something I like

While I normally hang around RPG.net for all my RPGing (and most of my gaming) needs, I'm willing to come here to have a FreeMarket specific forum to play around in

My brother and I are both quite interested in this game, although we don't have any time in the next week or so to try it out (sadly), though we should before the game actually comes out. One thing I'm thinking about here is to have standard playing decks: Hearts = Geneline, Diamonds = Experience, Spades = FreeMarket, and Clubs = Hazard (+2 jokers), of course with the non-Clubs limited to A-10. The Tech Deck would be a 40 card deck, 20 Red (Tech), 20 Black (Hazard). Poker chips for the chips.

I'm intrigued a bit by the notion of having red poker chips be Frownies. Have each player display how many Frownies they currently have - likely reset it per session. I'm also intrigued that there doesn't seem to really be a limit on the GM's Frownie pool - unless the GM also has to play by the "one Frownie given to each person" rule ... hm. I suppose that might be a Bug? (unclear by text)

Yes, this really is what I looked like when I uploaded that avatar. Not that it's quite current anymore.

The Superuser (GM) is limited just like everyone else. You'll need 5 frownies per person for a standard SU+4U kit.

I, too, was thinking of using standard decks exactly as you have suggested. Instead, I think I'll just print up a set of cards at 4x6cm (small euro cards size ±2mm) in B&W.

It's a total of 14 sheets of cardstock. If I really get ambitious, I can run it under the laminate before cutting... be a bit like thin hanafuda cards when done

Last night I joined www.projectdonut.com and downloaded the beta. There are still almost 500 downloads available as of this writing (they are limiting to 1000 beta downloads).

I only had time to give this a very cursory look - so far I like what I've seen. Now if I could just get past the backlog of RPGs I want to read/play faster! (tommorow night we're giving John Wick's Cat a try!

I've been reading through it, and should be done in a couple days. I am SO digging this game! Too bad it's going to be an uphill battle to find anyone around here to play it! =(

However, my imagination is running rampant with ways to convert this to my magic school game that I've spent the past 8 years developing, on and off. This does a bunch of the stuff that I wanted but couldn't think of!

That's always the issue with lesser-known systems, card based systems, and strongly themed systems. Freemarket is all three.

And Dave, I'm jealous. Cat looks like fun.

I went and sold my brother on it, too ...he's /also/ in the Beta, and kinda looking forward to a test-drive. I think my girlfriend is, too.

Just gotta know the right people

*accept* ... having friends is a good thing. You're not gonna Tank on me, right?

Oh, and everyone: go submit stuff to the Aggregate Registry! That's fun! Though here, on the Donut, not like in that Alpha Complex we hear so much about, nothing is Mandatory!
