Description Edit | History

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (WFRP) is a role-playing game set in Games Workshop's Warhammer World. Originally created in 1986 by Games Workshop, they passed development to their subsidiary, Flame Publications, in 1989. The game was dropped in 1992, but Hogshead Publishing obtained its license in 1995 and began releasing material, under Games Workshop's supervision. In 2002, Hogshead closed and WFRP reverted to Games Workshop.

In 2004, Games Workshop announced a 2nd Edition of the game to be published by Black Industries, a new division of Games Workshop's Black Library publishing department. Design and development was conducted in partnership with Green Ronin Publishing. In 2008, Black Industries closed leaving the future of WFRP uncertain once more.

One month later, Fantasy Flight Games announced they had obtained the rights to publish WFRP (among other Games Workshop-related titles). They released two books for WFRP 2nd Edition before rumors of a 3rd Edition began to surface in 2009...
