Iron Reviewer: Last Geek Standing
-
Hello everyone, and welcome to the greatest competition in history!
This list is set up for those that want to follow and discuss the Iron Reviewer: Last Geek Standing contest. Here all information about the running competition will be collected.
So what is Iron Reviewer? It is a competition starting January first to find the most tenacious of all of the Geek's reviewers.
The rules are as follows:
2 GG to enter
Write a review every two weeks or you're out.
After a year it accelerates to every week if anyone is still standing.
After two years it goes to daily.
There are three lifelines, each one can only be used once:
Freebie: If you miss a review, you have to write two EXTRA (so three) in the following time period to get back in.
Vacation: You can miss a review with no penalty as long as you inform the group while turning in the previous review. So if you plan to miss review number 43, you must inform of this when you post review number 42.
Personal: If you feel for some reason that because of personal events beyond your control you were not be able to review, you can use this option. The honour system is in effect here. This lifeline should not be used lightly. It should not be used because of technical problems, laziness or bad fortune that could have been avoided, but for graver situations.
All reviews have to be posted during the two week periode. All reviews has to be in by midnight RPGeek time. The review has to be through geekmod before the deadline. So everyone should try to do a bit of geekmodding on the day of the deadline.
All reviews can be for any kind of entry in the RPGG database, the review can't have been published anywhere else before it is posted on the geek and it can't be a video review. Periodicals and issues may be reviewed, but not individual articles.
The winner gets 2/3 of the pot, the one who has earned the most thumbs for his reviews gets 1/3.
At any time when only one participant meets the deadline, and no one has called a vacation, the posting player is declared the winner. That means only the vacation lifeline can get you out of losing.
If a deadline passes and no one posts, the prize goes to the banker, all remaining players gets a freebie.
If anyone wants to join, just send me two gold and what kind of connection you want to your item on the geeklist. Since the first deadline is January 14th, anyone can join before this date. So, while the competition starts on the January 1st, people can join until the 14th.
The list below tracks all the participants, how many lifelines they have and all reviews they have posted.
I remain impartial banker and arbiter, but the creator of this competition is:
Steve Donohue
United States Allen Park Michigan
The pot at the moment is two gold from every contested. I have donated 245.13 , Shanya has donated 10 , Eric Aldrich has donated 10 , Lowell has donated 50 , Kwakkie has donated 35 , Eric Dodd has donated 10 , Chaz Donnell has donated 23.22 , MJ Harnish has donated 5 , Matthew Taylor has donated 50 and Hida Mann has donate 200 . So the pot is large and growing.
In addition if you are a new user who does not have the 2gg needed to enter, Dave Bernazzani (aka wavemotion) has said he will gladly sponsor your entry into the contest.
I am also glad to announce that anyone who joins, and posts at least one review, gets this exclusive microbadge:
Upcoming: Deadline 42: Between April 14th and April 20th Deadline 43: Between April21st and April 27th Deadline 44: Between April 28th and May 4th

Reviews: 1st deadline: The Short Version? Buy this book! 2nd deadline: The Short Version? You only need this if you love Femforce, Superhero games, Sexism, or some combination of those three. 3rd deadline: The Short Version? If you like crunch and want rules for fighting flair, this is a great book! 4th deadline: The Short Version? Better for completists and AC Comics fans than the average gamer. 5th deadline: The Short Version? Buy on sight. 6th deadline: The Short Version? Long on Character creation, short on everything else. 7th deadline: The Short Version? Horrible. 8th deadline: The Short Version? Railroading at its finest! 9th deadline: The Short Version? Your players will hate you. 10th deadline: The Short Version? Great resource for Greek history and culture in a gaming context. 11th deadline: The Short Version? Pretty good reference for physical characters. 12th deadline: The Short Version? If you think there should be more to healing than restoring lost hit points, this is a great resource. 13th deadline: The Short Version? A good reference if you want to roleplay the Crusades. 14th deadline: The Short Version? A capital idea well executed! 15th deadline: The Short Version? Turning spell jockeys into robot jox just doesn't do it for me. 16th deadline: The Short Version? Wait, I can kick a bullet better than I can sling one? I am SO in! 17th deadline: The Short Version? Good, but not what I was expecting. 18th deadline: The Short Version? You don't need a short version - with this supplement you have all the time you need. 19th deadline: The Short Version? This is a great supplement with some very cool ideas. 20th deadline: The Short Version? I normally hate psionics, but this book made me rethink that. 21st deadline: The Short Version? Short descriptions but a lot of great ideas. 22nd deadline: The Short Version? This book would benefit greatly if it had been shorter and more authoratative. 23rd deadline: The Short Version? Only worth it if you really, really need to play a transmuter (or don't have the original softcovers) 24th deadline: The Short Version? If you've run more than a few times, you probably don't need this book. 25th deadline: The Short Version? An interesting look at an alien society 26th deadline: The Short Version? if you wanted to know more about evil dwarves, this is the best place to look. 27th deadline: The Short Version? Lots of cool new spells for divine casters of all kinds 28th deadline: The Short Version? Collected arcane spells done right. 29th deadline: The Short Version? Sparsely illustrated compared to most monster books and a confusing series 30th deadline: The Short Version? Players vs. bugs in a Dwaven Mine 31st deadline: The Short Version? I love the Hero System, but it's not for everyone. 32nd deadline: The Short Version? Saying anything bad about this game is like TILTing at windmills 33rd deadline: The Short Version? This book manages to make Ogres look interesting. 34th deadline: The Short Version? An excellent attempt at personifying a truly alien mindset 35th deadline: The Short Version? A great look at a cold-blooded society with a tight bond. 36th deadline: The Short Version? Goblins are horribly misunderstood, but you should probably still kill them. 37th deadline: The Short Version? No wonder Barad never attends family reunions! 38th deadline: The Short Version? Despite the warning, this book is neither adult nor funny. 39th deadline: The Short Version? it's not as funny as it thinks it is, but it is an entertaining read and a pretty useful book. 40th deadline: The Short Version? Sadly somewhat less than titanic. 41st deadline: The Short Version? This book probably can't be dropped in without a little work, but I think it's worth the effort. 42nd deadline: The Short Version? This is one book you should definitely NOT judge by its cover. 43rd deadline: The Short Version? "Prepare yourself for an RPG encounter so intense it could conceivably change your political viewpoint"* 44th deadline: The Short Version: A reminder of why Gygax was the master.
Remaining life lines: Freebie (but now you have to turn in three reviews before the next deadline). Vacation (you have to do tell us about this before the deadline of the one you plan to miss). Personal (only to be used if you feel the reason is sufficient).

All the best of old and new 35th deadline: Is Kingmaker right for you? A (nearly) spoiler-free evaluation 36th deadline: Monte Cook is trying to save D&D – but can he write a decent adventure? 37th deadline: It doesn’t get much more novice than this! Aaron Allston’s master class in how adventurers – and DMs – are made! 38th deadline: An excellent introduction to Paizo’s Golarion setting – and yet you should probably buy something else! 39th deadline: It’ll do, but thank god it has an index... 40th deadline: In search of the essence of D&D – and why every D&D player should read this book! 41st deadline: Pathfinder…in SPAAAAAACCCCCCE! Except, not really…. 42nd deadline: Because somebody’s got to stand up for the little guy, even if he’s obnoxious and annoying! 43rd deadline: A great set of monsters – but it’s the extras that make the book sing! 44th deadline: Shiver me timbers, that’s some serious role-playing: a brilliant opening to Paizo’s piratical adventure path!
