Hello!
-
I am almost done reading the 8th edition Warhammer fantasy battle rulebook. And I wonder if it is the biggest rulebook ever made. I want to find the biggest rulebook and I am tossing in 10 GG in a pot that will be given to those who find the extremities in rulebooks. I will also add any tip given to the pot.
The 3 first competitions are boardgames only while the 4th allows RPG's aswell.

Most pages in single volume.
The main quest is to find the biggest rulebook in a single volume. It do have to include rules, but all other text are counted. In the chase of the Warhammer rulebook, most of the pages are pictures, modeling tips and background. This is OK. The size of the pages do not matter, neither do font size.
Only Boardgames are allowed.
Prize: Pot/10 * 4

Most pages in box.
A secondary quest is to find the game with most pages included. So a game with many books included in one box do add all the books pages, no matter the page size, together. Note it must be included in one box, so Expantions are not counted.
Prize: Pot/10 * 2

Hello!

Smallest rulebook/sheet.
To find the shortest/smallest rules, I have decided to go for letters. Count each letter on the rule sheet, including all non gaming information such as copyright information.
- Rules in languages that do not have letters, but symbols, such as Japanese and Chinese do not count.
- The rules must be printed on paper and published.
- It has to be full, playable rules. Bridge scoring cards included in some deck of cards do not count.
Prize: Pot/10 * 2

Some other books may beat this in terms of word count or sheer weight.
However if considering sheer number of actual rules and not counting things like descriptions (let's call the category rules density) then RPGs and their board spin-offs don't come close. (And this is coming from a guy with both wargames and RPGs in his gaming history, so I've seen 'em all from the inside.)
Especially potent when you start throwing in the modules all of whose rules fit into the 3-ring-binder provided...

The longest published RPG core book I can think of is HERO System (5th edition revised), weighing it at a hefty 592 pages…

But the longest published RPG book of any kind that I can think of is the monstrous World's Largest Dungeon, at 840 pages, edging out the heavier-by-weight contender of Ptolus: Monte Cook's City by the Spire and its 672 apparently-thicker pages…

Unfortunately, the longest RPG item of any sort that I can think of is the atrocity that is F.A.T.A.L. and its 981 pages of horrific infamy. Not it only does it pack unimaginable quantities of racism, misogyny, and other vileness into its overflowing length, the rules themselves are a terrible, unplayable, eye-bleed-inducing monstrosity as well. Please tell me this thing was never published in physical form so it won't win.

Well just in case FATAL is DQ'd, the fantastic Starblazer Adventurers comes in at 632 pages.
