MilSims just e-mailed me to say they've sent my copy of Merchants & Marauders.

Guess what I'll have with me this weekend?

The game is for 2-4 players (best with 4, pretty good with 3 and playable with 2) and takes (ahem) about three hours. But it also has really pretty components and interesting game play. And who doesn't like being a pirate? Well, if you don't, you can instead play the economic/trading game that is being a merchant. I'm looking forward to this game and I hope my friends think it's a good thing too.

We celebrated Martin's birthday on the weekend by playing a lot of games he owns but hadn't played yet: Arkham Horror, Death Angel and Wrath of Ashardalon. As Sarah commented, it was the day of co-operative games. I hope Martin got an idea of the rules of each of those games, though I'm pretty sure that when he comes to play Arkham Horror without Sarah and me he'll run into rules difficulties. It's a hard game to learn. Sarah and I have just played a lot of it - probably in the realm of 100-200 games between us. (We normally play it solo).

Wrath is much easier to learn, and we absolutely destroyed its scenario (and the Arkham Horror game with Cthulhu as our opponent). I, playing the wizard, had a lovely moment when I blew up five monsters on a tile... and the treasure I attained gave me back the daily power I'd just used. Martin was the one to take the final blow against the poor rage drake that didn't really have a chance against us.

D&D on the weekend was interesting: Rich, Martin and Adam fell totally afoul of one of the trick/traps in the current dungeon and as a result spent a lot of time fighting maddened spirits that kept them all dazed: somewhat frustrating for the players. Adam finished the session on 0 hp and with 1 healing surge left, and Rich had 1 hp and 0 healing surges left!

The next session will mix things up with a few more roleplaying opportunities, and with (hopefully) Nathaniel returning. And I hope they also have a copy of the poem they found, as it *does* contain hints for all the tricks and traps in the adventure.

This weekend it's back to Eberron on Friday, with our fourth level party trying to delve into a dragon's lair, whilst on Sunday we get the next session of Death's Reach.

Do you play that the Rage Drake takes 10 or 16 HP to kill?

10 HP; that seems the intent and how the clarification on the back of the rulebook reads to me.

Cheers,
Merric
